We will be at Roda from 30th Dec- 06th Jan.
At the moment i am told there are no plans for any kind of celebration at the Casa Club.
If there are sufficent numbers intersted then i can speak to Geraldine when we are over Oct 19th to see if any thing can be arranged.
May i also suggest a New Years golf tourament would be a good idea.

Did anyone spend xmas / new year in roda last year. Was there much going on?
I believe they have a big fireworks festival on the beach.
Am thinking about booking for a few days around then, with the family.

We've been out to Roda between Christmas/New Year for the last 2 years. The weather was particularly good last year ...sunbathing in swimwear most days...unbelievable really!
As I recall there wasn't too much going on at Roda itself...obviously the Club House wasn't open last year....but all the restaurants in the main Plaza in Los Alcazares were really busy and there was a lovely vibrant atmosphere.
Yes there has been a firework display on the beach each of the 2 years we've been over.
We're back out there again this year between 27th December & 4th January bringing some friends with us. We booked the restaurant for New Years Eve whilst we were out there last week.
I believe I'm correct that the Spanish don't have 26th December as a bank holiday but they have another bank holiday in early January that we don't have in the UK?
We love it out there at that time...definitely beats fighting your way round the 'Sales' in the good old UK and wondering waht you can do 'post' Christmas celebrations! We would certainly recommend giving it a try.

It has now been confirmed there will be a dinner dance at La Higuera on New Years Eve @ 110euros.
This price includes all the wine, beers and soft drinks during dinner along with a champagne toast and 3 free drinks after 4 course dinner.
I would like some imput if fellow owners if they feel this is a good price and how it compares with other venues.
Just waiting to see if there are any reductiuons for children.

This seems to represent good value for money when you consider the quality of the food and the fact that drinks are included. Also I imagine when you say dance that there is music. Considering that we usually spend around 100 euro for a meal for two including wine and drinks this is very good value especially when you factor in the drinks and the time we will be there for.
The 525 charged 125 euro last year and the other higher quality restaurants all charge around the 100 euro mark for New Years Eve without music. The usual deal is that children pay approximatley 50% of the adult price or just very slightly less so I imagine that La Higuera will be the same.
I know that it is not for everyone and with a party including two children the price will be in excess of 300 euro but if, like me, you are only paying for two people and have all night to enjoy yourself then it is a very good deal.
Reading between the lines when you ask for input David are you implying that you can negotiate on this price or have the management of the restaurant simply told you the price and you are trying to see if the event will be supported? I imagine that since very few owners actually contribute to this site the management would be better advised to canvass the regular users of the restaurant in the Clubhouse if they are interested in knowing what the uptake will be.
Just sitting at the airport now on the way to Spain and I will be booking in the next day or so and hope to see some fellow owners there.

Hi do you know what the menu involves for New Years Eve at the Golf Club as we are coming out on 26 December with my sister and her husband. We had asked when we came out in October but they didn't seem to know much about it then. Any information would be great.
Thanks

Hello Sugar
With all due respect to you and your nine friends I don't think that the management of the Club house should be able to be negotiated with regarding New Years Eve.
I and a lot of other people have already booked at the quoted price and when I was last in the clubhouse at the weekend I heard that there are 20 or more booked so I will not be impressed to hear that they are bringing down the price for you, no offence.
I am a regular in the clubhouse and have some friends who live here. I am down in Spain in my apartment for two weeks out of every four as I am retired and I eat and drink in the clubhouse a lot after golf and in the evenings with my wife and sometimes my family when they are down with us. If I am not offered a discount for New Year's Eve why should you be when you are clearly not as good a customer as some of the people who are here a lot.
I am sorry if this is not a popular opinion but in the interest of fairness it is important that all customers are treated equally and no preferential treatment for people who try to undercut the rest of us by trying to drum up support on this forum.

First of all please note we are regular visitors to Roda and in fact are just about to visit for the 14th time this year.
We have also brought many guests to the Casa Club this year and in the summer we had a group of 24 people spending both in the shop and club house.
I agree i would also be miffed if i found out some one else had payed a different price for New Years eve on an individual ticket price.
However you have to accept It is quite normal for a group of say 10+ to try and negoiate a deal.
Wangy i would not expect any thing other than a negative comment from you as for whatever reason you have taken a dislike to my comments previosuly.

Hi David & Gill
Sorry you feel this way but I don't hold anything against you, I just voice my opinion which is fair to say thats what forum`s are for I read your thread and Don`s reply and have to agree with him, you cannot expect the clubhouse to be bullied in this way just because there are a large group,I understand to try and get a discount if you had say 20 or so of your own group but not to try and gather everyone together to bully them into a discount, its not fair on couples etc who pay the set amount stated on the menu and also to Devere as a whole
I am sorry if I came across as negative I was just trying to be truthful

i agree with sugermummy, i am a travel agent and when there are groups of 10 or more it is common practise to give a discount.okay so that may not seem fair on others who have paid the full wack.i may be out and will be paying the full amount but will not at all be upset if a group has a discount, this is just the way things are.Honestly speaking the discount will be little anyway if one is given.
dont know why people seem to be getting upset about this, it will be new year and new things to look forward to at roda
