Hi all,
Is there still a need to change you;re locks etc when you move in. If so can anyone suggest a locksmith that they have used in the area.
I also have concerns regarding the security of 3b given that it is the furthest point from the security post, are there any security minded people out there with any comments.

Hello Alan
You should speak to the aftersales office if you have any worries. I was at a presentation about Roda with a few friends and they asked for information about security and were told that the security system in Roda is the second best in Spain with the first being in Madrid at the palaces and parliament.
The security staff patrol all the roads on a set route every few hours and there are sensors built into their cars and the road so that they have to be at a certain point at a given time or there is an alarm at the main security desk. The computer on the gate runs every number plate through the police computers when a car enters and leaves so if there are any stolen or wanted cars on the property they will be apprehended. Even when the number is not on the screen the number has been taken by computer. There are also walking security patrols throughout the resort at different times suring the day. All times for checks are also varied so that there is no possibility of anyone expecting a patrol at a given time.
My friends were so impressed that they have a property on another resort for sale with a view to moving to Roda and I was very much reassured that I had bought in the right place.
Hope that this helps.

morning all,
we have an apartment on 3a right next to the 3b aparments and townhouses. We've been out quite a few times and there is always a security car driving round 3a and 3b. There is security guards walking the beat so to speak. So i have to say security is very good (touch wood).

Dear all,
Perhaps you will not be so enthusiastic about security at Roda when you hear the latest news released from the Administrator´s office yesterday, Monday the 15th of September, concerning the check control at the entrance of the development. Check with the President of your Community for an update. This message was last edited by JGR on 9/16/2008.

I am not happy with the security at Roda!
Did anyone visit in August when we had a crowd of "delinquents" using the pool in the early hours of the morning. The same people who were aggresive to residents. Drinking round the pool and stubbing out their cigarettes whereever they felt like.
Breaking trees and setting up football nets! I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture.
This all happened on Phase 1 opposite the entrance and hence the security hut.
I have driven in and out of Roda lots of times when the wrong registration of my car has been entered and also the barriers are up on countless occasions and not being used.
I think the problem lies with the adminstrator who receives 25% of our community fees to sort this out. The adminstrator should also be sorting out the gardens on Phase 1 especially the grass. I had to inform the gardeners that there were sprinklers on at 1430 for 5 minutes in bright sunshine and then we wonder why the grass is a mess. As for the lakes - what can I say - very little improvement!
Anyone who rates the security on this forum excellent obviously works for Roda - maybe in Resales!

Surely the problem of "delinquents" round the pool areas all goes back to irresponsible renters because whatever security do they cannot vet the renters.
Secondly with regard to security I wonder if those complaining have ever thought of checking with the Administrators as to how many security breaches there have been on the development as this will let us all know whether or not their perceptions of a poor security service is accurate. If I am concerned about an issue on Roda I always ask the people charged with the responsibility rather than asking for conjecture and public opinion.

In response to "fair dues" cooments:-
People do complain to the administrators and what exactly do they do? That is the reason I question why we pay them 25% of our community fees!!
As for your comment about the "irresponsible renters", I feel this is very infair!! It appears the trouble came from "roda/calidona" rentals who have slashed their rental prices!!

I was at roda from the 14th august until the 5th september with my little grand-daughter and to be fair we saw a mixed variety of renters. Most were nice people who respected the resort and loved it, however on a few ocasions there were renters who didnt have a clue how to behave.and I have to add these were spanish renters, mosty young spanish lads and very loud.Towards the end of our 3 week stay there was an english women with 3 teenage daughters around 18-20 lounging around the pool topless , maybe they thought they were in Benidorm.Oh by the way I am on phase 1.
But put all that aside, i love roda and woudnt want to be anywhere else.As far as securtiy goes, I have always felt safe.Except walking to the clubhouse late at night is a bit creepy, my imagination was running away with me with all those shadows from the bushes

It will always be impossible to tell which renters are unruly as I am sure the majority will respect both the resort and other people as much as most owners. In any walk of life there will always be a small minority who will not behave respectfully.
I was not there in August but am aware of a few occassions where security were called by residents and turned up to ask the noisy ones to quieten down.
They do walk the grounds but cannot be everywhere at the same time given that 3 phases are now complete.
I would suggest that you always call the security office at night or the administrator by day if you have a valid complaint about behaviour.
It would also be a good idea if ALL owners at their respective AGMs asked for the administrator to remind owners including Calidona/Roda to ensure that all renters are reminded in their rental packs to respect the resort and other residents. That includes the dog mess issue.
Apparently the reason the gates are now up is because of a directive from the Town Hall telling Roda it is illegal to have barriers down as there is public access to the golf course. I was informed that this could be challenged as it was once at La Manga. Once again the administrator should be contacted if you have a query.
