Penthouse Furniture

Hi All,

Just a quick line our furniture sourcing activity last week.  We were only out for 4 days including travel, so neede to hit the ground running.  From Alicante apt, went straight to Real Domestic to view the TEKA electric pack.  Will probably go with it with a few ammendments. Don't really like the painted silver finish - particularly on thr F/F.  Have replaced this with a brushed Stailless finish - for same cost.  Want to change the washer to white too - as on P/houses the W/M are in a cupboard on the Patio.

Got DFS to quote me on a range of furniture we liked (NOT a pack) -as a start point for cost & quality.  Then spent all availbale spare time scouring Murcia to see if I could get the items we wanted (or better items) at a lower cost.  The result was as follows:

1. Electrial goods - Real Domestics - Vilamartin
2. Leather Lounge suite & occasional chair - DFS - San Javier
3. Beds / Headboards - Mubles Mar Menor - Los Alcázaes (Thanks Ali & Simon for that - a great find ) 
4. Bedding - Yorkshire Linnen - Puerto Mazarron
5. Lighting - 90% Leroy Merlin, one nice fitting for the lounge from a good lighting shop just up from DFS in San Javier
6. Aircon - Gary Polarair
7. Dinning Furniture - decided to wait to see how the room looks after the Sofa etc are in then decide on what size to go for.  We found Good options at DFS, Mubles Mar Menor, Z Beds.
8. Didn't bother with Murcia Furniture - Don't like being hassled about something I hate doing anyway
9. Found a great shop (Nice furniture) in the Shopping centre in Murcia which sold some really nice pieces for the little nooks & cranny's - none std sizes etc.  Will go back there next visit - which can't come soon enough for me

In summary, we got what we wanted for this budget - Quality & Cost, by shopping about.  Packs maybe convenient but are certainley expensive & the quality seemed varaible depending upon what item. I absoloutley HATE shopping, but to get the right balance Q & C I had to put myself through 3 days of purgatory. It was well worth it in the end, for a little bit of effort - covered about 1200km in the 4 days!!

Skell, did you look at any rugs?. I'm looking for a rug for our lounge area and probably each bedroom,  but they need to be raspberry or have a hint of raspberry ( definately not red)May come to regret the colour scheme we've started with! Wherever I have looked we can get red or pink , hot pink or even paprika- but not raspberry.

We also have the TEKA range from Real Domestics (though we like the finish) but have to say it all looks great in situ and matches the TEKA oven and cooker hob provided by PW.

Skell is spelling it out there, he hates the 'old shopping lark' so I don't think he would have been looking for the hint of rasberry or 'hot pink' - it is not really a man thing  ! There are certain things that are best left to the ladies and those items probably fall into that category. It's amazing what us guys will get involved with though when we want to be sure we are getting the best deal around.

I am also getting my package from Real Domestics in the stainless finish and feel we have got a fairly good deal (certainly beat the price of a certain package provider). You have done well to get a F/F for the same cost as a silver finish as they are generally more expensive right through the range.

Can just image the conversations  "No Mike thats Pink, No Mike thats red and so on and so forth, just buy your raspberry rug here and tell Mike he has to carry that instead of his golf clubs to Condado.
