New Year Celebrations?

Hi,  we're coming over to HR over the New Year,  and are wondering what's on for seeing in the New Year?  I saw that Woody Allen is on at the opening of the La Torre Intercontinental Hotel,  at 500€ per person !  When I said we wouldn't be needing accommodation,  the guy said that price didn't include accommodation!! - wonder how may people will be at that one?  

I also called the Intercontinental at the Mar Menor,  and they have a gala evening, 6 course dinner and live music for 195€ - which is still pretty expensive.  We did spend the New Year at the Mar Menor back in 2005 and had a fantastic dinner and great entertainment - so I'm sure it would be good - but it's also black tie....

I just wonder if anyone on the ground knows of anything that's planned round and about?  Local restaurant having a special evening?

We're coming with my husband's brother and wife,  so would like to do something fairly special.   Anyone have any pointers?

We too are over for the festive season and have been waiting for a response to Maggies question. 

Surely some of the residents in the Mar Menor area are aware of what's going on in the area.
