We arranged our buildings & contents insurance with our Spanish Bank in the first year even though we didn't have a mortgage with them & it was very reasonable. What we were uncomfortable with was the documentation was not very English language 'user friendly'.
When it came to the period leading up to the renewal we contacted Jennifer Cunningham Associates ..they have an office in the main plaza in Los Alcazares where all the restaurants are located. The staff are English and were extremely helpful ...it was very straightforward to set up. The policy is through a company based in Croydon in the UK and underwritten by Lloyds of London. The premium is very reasonable and we feel much happier with this policy with a UK based company. We have just renewed with them for the 2nd year.
