Well a new date of May now, keeps going from weeks to months.
We were told by the community leader that there would be a 1000 Euro fine to anyone that installed a satalite dish... Guardia Civil?? How can this be law.
Has anyone found anything regarding satalite dishes in any of the paperwork received, we read our community book from front to back .... fun.. and could not find anything.
Any thoughts on this matter.

Hi,
I had an email today saying that the SAT TV was now available? ( see other thread ) When did they tell you May?
As far as the dish goes, I cannot see that this can possible be a civil matter.
PW cannot leagally impose new rules without a vote ( see thread on next weeks AGM ) so the only current rules ate those we signed at completion, which don't say a word re SAT Dishes.
Phil

As I've no doubt written before -we were told 'no SKY dishes' in Feb 2007 because PW want to be the only supplier of all media on the resort. We asked this particularly as my husband and sons appear unable to survive without wall to wall SPORT! I would agaree that I havent actually seen it written down but I have a feeling it will be somewhere because they want to income rather than letting it go elsehwere. The rep was particularly strong on SKY dishes saying they wont be permitted and fines will be imposed. So whilst this wont have been what everyone was told (because no one ever seems to have been told the same as anyone else) we feel they do have this documented somewhere- with the 'white or cream canopy' information and all that information about the lights that many of us were given but nothing was ever documented.

Jan & Mike,
I understand what you're saying, because somewhere in the pit of our memories, we can remember something being "said" about the satellite dishes, and the canopies, but we also think that, if this is a rule of the complex, then it should be mentioned in the rules of association, and it isn't, unless, as I have posted on the other thread, you can count the rule about satellite dishes changing the aesthetics of the buildings along with hanging washing over the balcony etc
I'm sure the only rule on the other sites is something to do with the size of the dishes, although the size allowed isn't much good. June

Think that these pieces of information were passed out differently by everyone- therein lies a problem.
Does anyone remember the confusion about the bathroom wash basins- another aspect of misinformation. Many of us were traumatised by the prospect of a glossy orange cupboard and oval sink balanced dangerously above (turned out you had to buy that as an extra but many were told it was a standard fitting- and didnt want it!!!)

hi,
well.. we have had a 1.45 dish installed on our terrace, (upstairs) i didnt read anywhere that we could not have this, as far as im concerened it feedom of choice, and i will not be removing it under any circumstances, we have been here since august and promised tv month after month, with out any, as for rules about what we can and cant have i see those stupid terrace blinds/curtains(that are suppose to be white) that look like a west end market stall all colours, sheds, hanging baskets ( like a devonshire village) oh and not to forget the outside lights that are all suppose to be the same! and they want to fine someone for a dish two words second one is off!

Craig, I know what you mean, but this is Spain, and in Spain we have to follow their rules. So once our communities are up and running, we will have to abide by the rules, otherwise we shall have to face the consequences...don't know what they will be yet, but we'll soon find out. So will everyone else that done their own thing. As I've already said, other that them using the rule that a satellite dish will change the aesthetics of the building, I don't know where this rule is. Take it you will be attending the meeting next week to find out, what's what?
Jan, Mike, I was quite upset that we didn't get an orange cupboard in the bathroom, NOT, but I wanted a water cooler, and a shutter on the front patio. lol
The following is a link to La Torre and it is something to do with the television, satellites etc on their site, may not be any good re relevance to what we are talking about, but as I am not technical, I wouldn't know. June

your right about this being spain,
but the way i see it is im a full time resident i paid my money and there is no way on this earth some will be telling me what to do do with my property, further more trespassing and criminal damage is a criminal offence, in spain, so if someone thinks they are brave enought to challange me let them, half of ther people who own property on my garden is for holiday so if they want to complain let them, plus my dish is out of sight from ground level only my neighbours can see and they have no problem.

Its probably going to be sat dishes that are attached to outside walls and balconies or possibly ground floor terraces that will be the target as they are visible. There's a huge one on a roof terrace facing us- husband is looking fondly at it.
The delay in providing written information is going to be a problem across the resort. We just knew from the strat that there will be rules and they have to be abided by but lack of specific information will cause a problem. I do know that some owners on La Torre purchased and fitted outside grills to patio doors in black and had to take them down once the rules were sent out.- because the written rules stated uniformity was essential. I doubt people did that lightly but it seems the community committee enforced it.

Hi All,
That's just it. Currently the only community rules are those we all recieved when we completed, these stated no washing lines and no changes to the front aspect of the properties etc, no specific mention of dishes, lights. So under the rules you can have a dish as long as it is not mounted on, or at a strech viewable from, the front of the property. Lots of people have been told different things about what they can/cannot do, but these are just hearsay, unless they are in the written rules. As I don't want a dish, ( but agree that others should have the choice ) for me the important point is understanding how these rules are decided. Under Spanish community law changes to the rules cannot be made ADHOC they have to be presented and voted on, so as far as I'm concerned the little leaflet of 'rules' that some have been given are only guidelines, they cannot be rules unless we vote them in.
I think next weeks meeting could be interesting as from what I understand from the calling notice the only point for vote is on the renewal of the community representative, the other points are infromation only. So no new rules have been officially proposed, so cannot be enforced.
Phil

Yes Phil, thats how we see it too. Time will tell and its probably the interpetation of 'asthetic changes' that will be the issue. Doubt if most of us will be affected. Do you think they might sell tickets for the day the 'cow shed' gets removed?
