HI FOLKS
JUST TO MAKE YOU AWARE, I HAVE HAD A ATTEMPTED BREAK IN, THE GLASS IN THE FRONT PATIO DOOR HAS BEEN HIT WITH SOME FORCE HAMMER OR SOMETHING SIMILAR, ONLY ONE PANE WAS BROKEN
I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION WE WERE LIVING IN A SECURE GATED RESORT, THATS WHAT WE ARE PAYING FOR, SO FAR PW HAVE REFUSED TO REPAIR IT, SAYING IT WAS NOT ON MY SNAGGING LIST,MY SNAGGING WAS DONE IN NOVEMBER THIS IS NOW APRIL
I HAVE BEEN OVER 5 TIMES SINCE NOVEMBER AND NOT ONCE HAVE I BEEN STOPPED AT THE GATE, ASKED WHO I AM OR WHERE I LIVE
I FEEL PW SHOULD REPAIR IT AS A GOOD WILL GESTURE, AS IT IS OBVIOUS SECURITY ARE NOT DOING THERE JOB PROPERLY
I AM ALSO VERY UNHAPPY THAT THE FORO AND RECREATION FACILITIES ARE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, SO TOM DICK AND HARRY WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE RESORT
JILL

Hi Jill
Sorry about the atempted breakin. I must say it is very worrying.
I was always under the impresion that the oasis would be gated of from the resedents access , therefor allowing the public to use it without accress onto the rest of the site.
As you say if every Tom ,dick or harry or as in Spain every Juan,. Ricardo & Agiustin can gain acess to the sports area & the foro , there will be no security.
thinking I might spend time on Condado alone at some time in the future, a secured site was imperative to us hence the reason we bought from PW 7 This site.
seems like we were hoodwinked. As you say its none existant at the moment

I totally agree, it is very worrying about security. we have just returned and on 2 occasions were asked at the gate for our name and apt no but this is totally irrelevant if anyone can enter to use foro and sports facilities which at the moment I feel are inadequate for us! never mind members of general public. Having been there last week we could hardly get a game of tennis as courts were so busy every day.

i would have thought that most of you would have visited one of the other polaris resorts before buying on condado.anyone can drive into these resorts and play golf or use the hotel facilities(at a price).in fact annual golfing membership was available to the general public.(this had now changed to the longer term deal which most havent taken up. but anyone can buy a day ticket.all cars have their number plates recorded and all vans are searched on entry and exit.unfortunatley spain is experienceing an extreme recession so thieves are taking more and more chances.my advice is take only a limited amount of cash and use the service tills to withdraw.keep all doors and windows locked when out and used blinds or curtains.dont advertise your wares and advise any guests to be careful.
at least we have security guards and with such a massive estate its a tough jb to watch everyones property but think of alot of ungated resorts and i think we have it good in comparison.and it looks like the tough window did the trick this time so thats 1-0 to polaris.the only thing i would say its a bit weird on jardines that the back unaccessible windows have shutters but the front one doesnt.im sure you could fit one as long as it was matching.anyone an idea of cost?thats the only think i can think of on upstairs jardines and naranos for extra security as well as locks for outside furniture.
i have another property on another community and did also get an attempted break in so had to increase my defense system so am fuly aware of everyones worries but sharing your problems is a good idea so that we can try and stop the problem at source.be careful out there -its tough tmes..

Hi Jill
Sorry to hear your disturbing news, I too thought I would be able to go over on my own and feel pretty safe. When we first purchased the apartment, on the original plans the foro and Jardines etc. were suposed to be for residents only ,now thinking about it don't know how it would have worked with the golf course , but that said it was one of the attractions that the apartments were in a gated community . The Oasis was to be open to the public as this was a massive venture. As we are paying (or going to be) substantial charges for security I think they need up the ante, when we were over one of the chaps was even asleep. has anyone got any telephone numbers to ring for security, or in an emergency, as surely we should be able to contact someone if we think someone is acting a bit suspect (like smashing a window etc.) we are supposed to have patrol security guards as well as on the gates ,so surely they should be contactable.
Has anyone had shutters ,or are we allowed on the Jardines to have these fitted? if so would appreciate some info.
Sandy

Hi Jill
Just a thought, because it happen to me once, do you think it could have been a stone thrown up by a mower or strimmer?

Hi Jill
As you know I saw the damaged window when we met, although it’s possible its an attempted break-in, I personally would think its more likely to have been coursed by lawnmower or strimmer, I once parked my car next to workmen cutting grass and the lawnmower through a stone our which dented my door. I would also expect that someone trying to brake-in would try to force the patio door lock open rather than brake glass, as this would be much quieter. If PW are saying it’s an attempted brake-in I would be asking for there proof of this and without any such evidence, informing them its far more likely to be coursed by their workmen.

Took me ages to get thru the gate 1st time i went over last October, think the black clothes, balaclava, grappling hooks and scuba gear made them suspicious, but once they saw the box of milk tray i was carrying they just waved me in.
Personally am gonna get the shutter done for the patio doors, and the understairs bit blocked in and locked up for sun loungers etc.

A major factor in my purchase was the security and being able to retire and live safe within a secure complex this security seems to be just disappearing.
Also what’s the point of having car recognition systems that opens a barrier no matter what it reads my car number mostly says no ocr and quite often reads the wrong number.
I thought the system was to read the number plate and if registered to an owner would open the barrier on the way in or out. If number not recognised then the barrier should remain down until the guard has positively identified the person. Anyway it is all irrelevant if the public are going to be allowed in and use our shops and roads, enjoy our gardens etc at our cost?
Street lights remain off 3 weeks now all for saving energy and money but not at cost of Safety and Security
Not happy

Can anyone tell me where this information about general public having access to Condado shops and facilities has come from please.
The other question for consideration if this is the case, is how much of an issue is it? We have not bought in one of the worlds most densly populated areas have we!
When out last week we played golf at La Torre. We just pulled up at the visitors barrier, waited 10 seconds and then drove onto the site completely unchallenged. This is the case at All of the PW resorts, as we have visited them on different occassions.

This was in a translation of a meeting held in the Sergery last week and comes from an all day meeting with PW the Administrators etc the previous day by the group called Condado Alhama Association and was posted i believe by dringman under the topic of surgery meeting or something like that.
Security will be an issue especially at these difficult times with Spains unemployment still falling etc, and local crime increasing.
My point was why have all this security then allow any one in? if the barrier system recorded movements correctly at least records could be checked etc.
Its not just security if one and all uses our roads we still pay for them and currently Alhama Council contribute nothing to our outer rings and public areas but will next month be charging us all council tax?

Hi Mick,
I totally agree with you. We will be paying all the bills for upkeep and the security and therefore should expect the site to be secure.
The point I was making is that no other PW site is secure, in so much that they let anyone in and out.
I understood that all owners would have a keyfob entry system for the security lodge, that is why there are 2 barriers, one for owners and one for visitors. The owners barrier on La Torre will only operate via the keyfob therefore forcing anyone else to security inspection ,if they bother.
I have emailed RPM and asked about our keyfob entry at Condado, will report response if I get one.

I was under the impression that it was the Oasis that was to be open to the public and not the Foro? Has this changed now?
Must admit I have often wondered how the present entrance procedures deter anyone with criminal intent getting on the site. Presumably if you are up to no good you would hardly use your own vehicle to gain access thus making number plate recognition of little use.
Must say i agree with PGM, sounds like someone has been a little careless with some sort of tool and PW are not willing to fix.
Still chuckling over Shampers response, really must meet him soon!

While of little value, it was annoying to find someone had been on my terrace during the night and stolen my flag and flagpole, which I used to identify to other people where I lived.
