I'm an Odinist or Asatruar. That is the pre christian religion of the Northern Europeans. The flag I flew honours my ancestors. The flag I fly now is Odin's raven banner, although I now only fly it when actually engaged in ritual work or a celebration (Blot).

Hi Mel,

Having read through this thread, dont mind a flagpole as long as it is only 3 feet high and is not spoiling my view, surely there are other ways you can celebrate your religion without upsetting your neighbours in the process. Personally I don't think your doing your business any favours by having such a dogmatic approach to this issue. Problem I see is once one does it more will follow  and thats where one  simple flag turns into one major issue, therefore the solution NO Flags whatsoever.

You'll see that I have compromised, and will only fly it at certain times, the pole is removable. As for how I celebrate and practice, that is a matter for me only. Anyway anyone is welcome to come and express their views over a horn of ale or wine.

I would take strong issue with your statement, "as for how I celebrate and practice, that is a matter for me only". If practicing your religion did not affect anyone else around you, then I'd agree with you wholeheartedly. Unfortuately that isn't the case here.

If as in this case the practicing of your religion impinges on the rights and enjoyment of others, then I'm sorry, it's no longer a matter for you and you only. That's an incredibly selfish attitude you're taking, if you don't mind me saying so.

Simply playing the religious card doesn't by default trump the rights of those around you.

Never mind the flags , I was working on garden 8 opposite  Penthouse 1  last week and wondered where the Mosque was on the garden , as somebody was praying to Allah on quite a few decibels !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was not a Mosque, it was me.   It was my huge white belly as I was lying down on the roof terrace semi - pi**ed at the time.  And it was'ent praying either.  I had my I-pod on and may have been singing loudly to my music.
