As there is no leadership from the 'top' over this matter some of us non payers are thinking of getting together to see what further pressure we can apply. I have been quoted 150euros for a solicitors letter (from Maria on this forum) demanding the return of the documents from Procumasa - the more involved - the lower the cost per household.

A letter has been sent out to all the non payers of 300 euros to Procumasa.

The first paragraph states "A period have passed, long enough so that you could pay Procumasa the water consumption expenses and the water contract expenses, given that you have enjoyed of this for free since you brought your property. This expenses amounts to the sum of 300 euros. From this 106.14 euros correspond to the payment to be made to Aqualia and 9.02 euros correspond to the Fortuna City Council fees."

It states that all properties that do not have a meter installed will be cut off on 26 October, and says that you will have to address Aqualia on your own to get your meter installed. It adds that Procumasa have left all necessary documents with Aqualia.

Several of us residents got wind of this letter earlier this week and have visited Aqualia, paid 106.14 euros and now have a meter installed.

The final paragraph of the Procumas letter states " If you finally decide to go on and make your contract directly through Aqualia. and so decide not to pay the 300 euros that have been claimed to you, you must know that Procumasa will take all legal action that they may deem appropriate in order to make up for such expenses."

So let me get this right - those of us who have forked out 300 Euros have been screwed for almost 200 Euros, ostensibly to pay for water used so far. Well I have had my first water bill for two months which was around 20 Euros so we have effectively paid for the last 20 months??? Wonderful. For those of you lucky enough to be in Spain permenantly, I wouldn't worry about the threat from Procumasa - they don't have a leg to stand on. As we all know, legally they are bound to supply the water until the urbanization is completed - which it ain't. I paid out of duress because the thought of turning up having travelled from the UK and arriving  to my water having been cut off was far worse than paying out 300 Euros.

True to their word, for once, the water is being cut off as I type!!!

Aqualia are removing the water supply links to properties that are un-sold and those that have not paid to have a meter fitted.

It looks like the absentee owners who come on site will not have water until they go to aqualia and arrange connection. They close at 1pm on Friday and do not open again until Monday morning - so do not plan a weekend holiday to Las Kalendas.

Some owners have been given their paperwork after connection.

I have not tried to collect mine from them yet! I'll post again once I've tried.
