Digital TV

Anybody know anything about the new HDA TV service that is being activated on the 22nd of June?

Apparently we will all have to have a set-top box or we will not receive any TV at all.

Where do we get one of these and is there any cost implications etc.

Friends living on Resort said that Marta said we will need a decoder costing between €30-€40

I would have thought that if it is Digital television that is being installed, if the TV that you have is TDT (Spanish Digital TV) ready then you will not need anything else, a set top box might be needed for TV's that are not TDT ready! I'll try and get abit more info!

After reading this post I contacted my property Manager .  Aparently the following was emailed out by the community office.

Dear owner:

The Telecommunications Company in charge of TV maintenance in the Resort, inform us of the following:

Also all the analog Spanish TV channels will be turned off.

The system quality will be much better than actual system, and it will be possible to add more satellite channels.

Also Spanish TDT channels change their position in the UHF Band due to technical reasons, so it will necessary to tune up all the TV (with internal TDT decoder) and all the external TDT decoders.

Hadn't seen that email, so therefore if your TV is TDT ready then no need for a set top box,just a re-tune! If it's not TDT ready then you will need a decoder! Not expensive at all! 30 to 40€! Get them from Carrefore etc!
