Does anyone know appox how much a weeks air con costs in August?

You need to find out what the input kwh is for the unit/s and then the anticipated amount of time that you are going to be running it per day:

max input kwh x hours run x 10.668 (cents per kwh)

 

So if you max input is say 4.5kwh and its on for 24 hours, I make that about 11.5 Euro before tax and not including meter rental etc per day!

Thanks Scooby do.

So that would make it about 14 euros a day.  with the cleaning and laundry expenses it doesn't seem worth renting it out whilst we can only ask such a small amount of rental at the moment.

Hi Ricky

S'pose that's worst case! If you put signs up asking your renters to turn the A/C of while they are out or when doors and windows are open, that should reduce the timing! 

For this year, you may want to try and get a month or two months rental over summer, that way, utilities are paid on top of the rental income and you only have one or to arrival cleans to pay, plus one or twosets of linen!

Thanks Sobbydo.Good Idea about the signs. In your opinion can you see any signs of things getting better ?

looking back  to the days when the IT bar and the Spainards Inn  and the cafe at the driving range were open things were so much more lively.

There is a desperate need for a 'business person' to be appointed to run the Resort and Golf facilities, somebody who will run the Resort with short and long term goals in mind!

It' like the chicken and the egg, what comes first, restaurants, bars and shops or the clients to use them! I can understand those people who have purchased commercial units not currently wanting to invest in opening them when there are no people about, likewise those holiday makers who will not come to the Resort because their are no bars, restaurants, supermarket etc.

We need a shake up, somebody at the top who can understand that to encourage people to invest or holiday here, the Resort needs the facilities to do so! The Spaniard etc have been internally stripped, no lights, plugs etc, so they will not be opening in a rush! With the thousands of Euros spent on maintaining the exterior of the Resort, it would have been wise in my opinion to run The Spaniard and IT at a loss so that a choice existed for owners and holiday makers!

Sadly, until the person running the Resort takes a real interest in moving it forward and running it like a business, then things will not improve!

You are saying exactly what we are all thinking.I think the owners of the Resort owe it to the people who have invested their money in property to keep things open even if they run at a loss to try to get things going.The owner of Stallones and the owner of Maison Madera both said that they would like to open in the village but the resort wanted too much money.Surely there must be someone who could see sense.Max Clifford is needed  to sort things out.
