I am a jet 2.com member and although I have found them to be one of the cheapest on the market in the past, I have just gone on line to book flights and they want over £200 pounds per person in early august. This seems expensive to me and I thought "take a step back and ask your good friends on EOS if they know of better deals on the market from Manchester Airport before I start trawling through all the other airline websites. Any info that gets us cheaper flights would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Dakey

I'm up in Scotland and normally use RyanAir who are rubbish but cheap. Recently though I've been logging on to www.skyscanner.net, they check all prices from all airports in seconds and can come up with some great deals. You can also ask them to check in-direct flights, which we did a few weeks back and ended up booking flights from Glasgow to Birmingham via BMI baby then Birmingham to Murcia and returning Murcia direct to Glasgow. If we booked direct both ways it would have been £800 for 5 seats but through skyscanner and going in-direct on the way out ment we only paid £480.

Hi, Yesterday I priced up flights for end Aug from Manchester, East Mids, Leeds/Bradford and Liverpool with Jet 2 (I'm a member), Monarch, Easyjet and Ryanair. They ranged from £535 for four of us to £715.92 with Leeds/Brad to Alicante with Jet2 being the cheapest.

Hi,
I thought I might add a comment about Easyjet flights. We booked flights a fews months in advance for early July. I checked the flight prices on a regular basis and found the costs actually fell twice..!
I contacted Easyjet who arranged a credit on my file for future bookings. Overall the cost was reduced by about £90 for two.
My be worth checking if you book with them.

We use SkyScanner.net as well as wegolo.com as an initial overview of prices and flight times, but always
book direct with the airline, don't use any thinks provided
always check the actual prices on the airlines website - often we found then to be better
Prices differ
last week we booked a fri-sun flight from bhx-alc 31/-2/8 using 2 different airlines ryanair/bmibaby and pay about £90 each.. not bad for july/aug
Booking early doesn't always give you the best prices.. they might start low, go up and when the plane isn't filling up they are lowered again.. happen to us for a few years now, but hey if you happy about the price when you book it.. why pull a long face... happens

Hi
We just booked seven of us to go over for the last week in Aug for £1000 - then we had to add on golf clubs and luggage!!!!! This was wih Ryanair from Liverpool - don't like em but the flights fit us.
We're flying to Alicante again because is gives us an early flight out and a very late flight home.

We fly with Ryanair too next Thursday for 2 weeks. The flights in total including luggage, priority booking cost me £446.00, which I think is great for the 4 of us. My hubby is joining us seperately, due to work commitments. We fly out from Durham Teesvalley, nice small airport, so hopefully no delays, into Alicante Airport.

Hi
I've just been looking for flights for the New Year and found out Monarch has dropped their flights to Alicante from Luton after November 2009 Must admit I do prefer flying with Monarch.
Not sure if they will start up again next summer? Has anyone else found anymore flights that have been dropped?

For our last two journeys we have flown with Easyjet and found them to be cheaper than Ryanair. We're flying Liverpool to Alicante now rather than to San Javier as the flight times seem to be better and early morning midweek is often much cheaper compared to other flights companies and an evening flight to return; the key seems to be to avoid Fri, Sat, Sun . We have looked at Jet2 from Blackpool but have always found them more expensive than Ryanair and Easyjet. However one improvement is that we can fly with just hand luggage now and so with online booking save on airport fees. Thats beginning to make a difference too. Easy jet also manage their speedy boarding better as they have a definate queue lane rather an an airport assistant waving a hand in the air and shouting something no one can hear over the massed crowds huddled against the desk- which seems to be Ryanairs preferred method of managing speedy boarding!

Great post from Lytton, in relation to the Easyjet price match. We booked for five of us in February and the price is £80 lower today.
Just as Lytton said, customer service create a credit file that lasts for six months. Great if you want to secure your flights earlier but still want a good deal. Happy with the £80 saving

Hi just to add another line of thought,
we actually booked early with easyjet liverpool to madrid and got flights for £290 for 4 so it is worth the drive down.
I was going to travel up to glasgow as I found flights for 4 with parking and a hotel for £450.00 this again was well over half the price I could find flying from manchester/leeds or east midlands. I think this is due to there scholl holidays finishing earlier. Might be worth looking at.
