Weekly Events bulletin, week ending 23rd August
Well if you thought last week was busy for fiestas…
There are so many fiestas on across the region that you’ll be hard pushed to decide what to do during the next week.
Let’s start with the big one on the Mar Menor, The Semana Internacional de la Huerta y El Mar. This lovely fiesta embraces the countryside and rural traditions, it’s a feast for the senses with folk music, food, crafts, costumes and wonderful free performances, night after night. Its on all through next week, so you’ll have plenty of time to visit.
The local fiestas are everywhere. Here are the programmes for Gebas, Percheles, Isla Plana , La Azohia, Puerto de Mazarron, Perin, Blanca, and the big wine festival in Jumilla……
And just when you’re all fiesta’d out, don’t forget it’s free Sardines and Migas, foam parties and horse racing for all at the big local one in El Pareton this weekend
Fancy trying a new sport? There’s an Airsoft open day in Aledo this weekend, or endurance motorcycling, or the night-time running race against drugs in Bolnuevo, or maybe you’d rather go to a football tournament. Or go for a swim. Or take a free guided walk around the area. There’s plenty to choose from in Simply Active.
Great live music is on offer at the Legends of Rock festival over at San Javier this weekend, or would you prefer to see the Liverpool band playing free in La Azohia on Friday 14th?
Finally, tempers are rising along with the temperatures and our local politicians are getting hot under the collar about the demonstration on Friday night against Mazarron Council, complaining at the excessive mobile phone charges we pay here in Spain, the latest unemployment figures and the amount of damage caused to the regions crops by the destructive hailstorms that lashed the region this week.
