Hi
When we were out at our apartment a few weeks ago, we had in out post box a connection bill for electric from Iberdrola, which we were expecting. We also had another letter (bigger document) which I believe is a contract that needs to be signed and sent back.
I was going to convert the wording on Google Translate before we sign but this will take quite some time.
I was wondering if there is anyone who has already done this, or whether people are confident to just sign and send the contract back.
Your advice would be welcomed.
Rachel and Simon

Hi Rachael & Simon,
Sorry can't help with the translation but can offer a word of warning.
I spoke to Iberdrola when we completed last year and they told me that if they did not receive the signed contract back from us then they would terminate the contract and cut us off, even though they had taken the connection fees and first bill from our account. They did not tell me how long we had to do this.
Most of the people at iberdrola only speak Spanish, or a little english, so its difficult to get answers from them. (Although this is changing because of their interests in the UK )
Once they do disconnect you it can take weeks to get put back on.
So my advice is to sign the contract ASAP and send it back.
PS On the bottom of your first bill there is a reference number which you can use to set up internet access to your account through their website www.iberdrola.com. Some of this site is now in english.

Hi Rachel,
I am going down to Condado this weekend so I guess I will have mine in the post. As I am Spanish, I will read the contract and I will let you all know.
Regards
Maria

Hi All
Thanks for the advice. Maria I look forward to hearing from you - thank you!
I'm sure that there's nothing to worry about in the contract, but don't like signing before I've read.
What's frustrating is that being a `non resident' for all Iberdrola know it could be next Summer before we come out to Spain again so how would we know that the contract was in our letterboxes.
I have registered for online billing now so hopefully won't have a problem again.
Regards
Rachel and Simon

Hey guys maybe a bit off topic but it is Iberdrola advice of sort but If you've given Polaris the authority (at the Notary) to set up leccy and water (by signing the relevant forms for leccy and water) will we still get these contracts sent to us to our mailbox to sign and send back?
Considering we wont be out again till early next yr we wont know if these contracts will be there, question is if these contracts are not sent back (if they're there) could we be cut off, also considering the Iberdrola connection fee has been taken from our a/c already.

Hi Bren,
Do not worry about the Iberdrola contract...as long as you keep paying your monthly bills, they won´t cut the supply. Nobody else, apart from the name´s person in the contract can sign it. What you give Polaris, on the day you signed the deeds, was authorisation to request on your name an electric and water supplier. That´s all.
When you go over next time you can sent it to Iberdrola, there is no deadline.
Rachel, all: got my key box this morning and will get the post later tonight when I am back in Condado. I will let you know as soon as I get connection to internet again, t what is in the contract and what to do with it.
Regards
Maria

Hi all,
Got the electric contract, and everything seems to be like a standard one, mentioning conditions in the connection, prices according by the ones set by the Ministery of Industry, length of the contract for 12 months (just in case you will want to hire electricity with another company), electric emergencies free for 6 months (after this free period you will pay 1.83 euros), payment to be made up to 7 days from getting the bill (in case you do not have a DD).
You have a copy for you (EJEMPLAR PARA EL CLIENTE) and another one for IBERDROLA (EJEMPLAR PARA IBERDROLA S.A), 3 pages, which need to be signed in the last page, and sent by fax to 0034 944062446.
I also recommend you TO TICK the boxes which mention COMUNICACIONES COMERCIALES (AT THE BOTTON OF PAGE 2) so you not receive any communication from Iberdrola wether to your post of by email. If you prefer to receive promotions/offers do not tick the boxes.
Any doubt, just contact me
Regards
Maria
