We are a group of people who all live in UK and who have signed contracts to purchase properties on Roda. Most, it seems, have not yet completed. We are at various stages of taking legal action against Roda/Calidona and for various reasons. The non-supply of advertised leisure facilities and Hotel being one. We have different legal support but intend to unify as Corvera have.
We are in the process of organising a meeting somewhere in the UK which will be determined by the geographical location of people who wish to attend.
If anyone wishes to attend or simply to make contact for whatever reason please send a PM.
Baron.

You should be aware that there are a number of completed owners mainly Spaniards from Madrid who have consulted a Madrid lawyer with a view to bringing a class action against Roda, possibly for the return of some funds on the basis they would not have paid the asking price had the facilities not been promised.
They are contacting owners to invite them to join in the group but am not sure what stage they have reached.

Hi all
I am an owner on phase 2 and generally delighted with the property, the overall development and the golf course. Yes I am disappointed about the hotel and commercial area but we are far better off than many other Spanish developments. Although I would be delighted to receive a chunk of the money I paid for the property back in lieu of non delivered facilities, if it came to the crunch, I would rather have Calidona in business rather than going down the tubes (either out of necessity or out of convenience) and run the risk of an 'administration situation. This would definitely hit us all in the pockets.
Does anyone know anything about the financial health of Calidona as this is probably what we should be most worried about?

Hi Mike - in all honesty, would it really matter if Calidona were to go into administration? Roda will soon be managed by the community and there does not seem to be any timeframe or commitment to build additional facilities.
The only downside that I can see is the relationship (via sponsorship I assume) of the PGAE.
I'm not being argumentative, just think that things may actually be easier to manage with increased autonomy.

perhaps calidona should be treated with the respect and loyalty they have shown to there customers !!, maybe if they had not treated people with such a high handed arrogant attitude they would not be facing the number of court cases and associated costs they now face , should they face administration they have no one to blame accept themselfes ( imho)

I agree with Russ, Calidona's financial woes will have little impact on the future of Roda other than promised facilities will not be put in place by them but perhaps whoever takes over their administration in the future if that is indeed the case.
The PGA connection has always been a little tenuous especially as the Q school was scheduled for Hacienda del Alamo. Roda will remain a great resort course, bad news for those of us that purchased rights hoping it would be more exclusive, but at present it offers some of the best rates to the public compared to other decent courses in the area.
As owners, the 1200 or so who have completed will have more say and control provided the right people are prepared to donate their time in running the Community on behalf of us all. Hopefully at the forthcoming second Entidad meeting those involved will be better prepared than the previous rush meeting.
There seems little point in further comments or complaints about Calidona's customer service or whatever as they will have NO influence in Roda once the Entidad is up and running.

Hi Hughman,
Regarding the Spanish group you mention, how are they making contact? and do you have any further details of who is running it. Like you said the financial position of Calidona at this stage isnt going to have much impact once the communitys take over the running of the resort, so maybe it is worthwhile joining the group who knows.
Cheers Rory.

So far I have received an email from local Spaniards sent by the lawyer explaining what the action is about, although the English translation is not that great.
I am trying to enquire as to who is leading the action and whether or not they want the email circulated to other owners, which I assume will be the case as they are suggesting something in the region of 100 owners with a total commitment of 1200 euros each to set up the class action. presumably this would decrease if more were involved.
As yet I am not convinced that there is much point in taking part if Calidona are floundering as financial recompense will not only be slow but also difficult to acheive but I remain open minded.
If permitted I will post letter and lawyers details online.

As some of you who have posted on this thread are obviously aware, you have made initial contact with me and I have replied.
This post today is simply to remind all owners that a meeting is being held, at a date to be determined, in the Midlands as it is central to people who have already made contact with me from my original posting on 10th January. It is also possible that some owners from Corvera will be attending as I have had contact from a large group who are taking group action suggesting that some of them may attend.
It is a meeting where owners can meet face to face and discuss their current situation and gain/pass on their experiences and knowledge in the hope that it will help owners make up their own minds which way they go from here. It is passing on/gaining information that will help us all, this is what postings do. The problem with postings is two fold. Firstly, for obvious reasons owners will not divulge their own individual circumstance beacuse we know there are people who read the threads in order to judge the mood and see who is saying what to who. Secondly, following on from the first point, owners then contact other owners by PM's and disappear, which culminates in many smaller and sometimes one or two man bands talking between themselves.
I would be interested if Hughman would pass on the Spanish groups lawyers details to me in a pm if you are not allowed to post on the thread. This can then be made available to owners attending the meeting if they have not had details previously.
We look forward to any owners, from any Calidona dvelopment, wishing to attend the meeting, whatever your own personal circumstances.

Hi
It is still unclear to me what decision has been taken from Calidona conercing the comemrcial centre and hotel. Is it a further delay or a complete stop for any plans on building this ?
I am interested in being part of a legal action as the value of the property for sure will be lower without the commercial centre and hotel. This was part of the reason for buying at Roda. Living in Denmark I cannot participate in meetings in UK.
Best regards
Bent

hi
I am a bit unclear as to what is happening as I have been out of the picture for over a year with the death of my husband.
I live in the midlands and would be happy to come to a meeting.

Hello All,
I am new to this site, but am awaitng an appartment on Phase 4.
I have been a little perturbed by the lack of responce to my e-mails and phone calls to RODA, chasing a completion date.
I read with interest some comments regading legal action.....this scares me.
I am in the third year of a court case in USA, trying to recover a deposit I placed on a property out there.
With many legal actions against the USA builder and promotion company, they filed for bankcrupcy.
Maybe a different view of RODA would be to tread a little more carefully and avoid that situation occuring in Spain.
It might be the case that my 'water-tight' bank guarentee, is not worth as much as I am led to belive.....your comments please.

Dear Fluff
Please accept my condolances at the loss of your husband. It must be harder for you than we who still have our spouse.
Most purchasers on Roda Golf love the place, as we do.
Calidona may think that being an ostritch and keeping their head buried in the sand is the way to behave in these unfortunate economic times. It isn't.!! We need clarity and honesty. A full explanation of where we are with the development and what the future holds. - be it good or bad. If it's good - great. If it's bad then at least we would know where we stand and can plan accordingly along with Calidona instead of through the courts which will only be a money drain to lawyers.
Something has to give. Can Calidona not see that unless they compromise and give a little in some way to purchasers past, present and future the Resort and everyone connected, including them, will continue to suffer. Calidonas arrogant stance is a killer for us all. Wake up and open up Calidona!!!! ACT NOW before it's too late for our potentially fantastic Roda Golf.
Good Luck for the future Fluff

HI lappie
I TO THINK THAT THE BEST WAY FORWARD IS FOR ALL TO WORK TOGETHER. BUT UNFORTUNATLY THAT DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN.I WAS THERE AT THE VERY BEGINNING AND BELIEVE ME THERE WERE LOTS OF TEETHING PROBLEMS.MOST OF THE CALADONA STAFF TRIED TO HELP, BUT THE ODD SOCIAL CLIMBERS TRIED TO IMPRESS CALADONA BY NOT HELPING THEREFOR SAVING THEM MONEY [OR SO THEY THOUGHT].
THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND SYMPATHY FLUFF

Hi
I have great sympathy for the staff at Calidona, or at least the ones that I have had personal contact with. They are definitely between the devil and the deep blue sea and have always tried to be as helpful as they possibly can be. It's Calidonas Directors who should feel ashamed of their behaviour towardr all the people who put their money and trust in them. Calidonas eggs are NOT all in one basket as most of ours are. As I said. We really do need clarity on the true situation at Roda if only to stop unfounded rumours which affect everyone.
