We have been getting some huge water bills.  Last one 321,00 euro for two months while our property was empty!  We have a villa so the pool and irrigation system need the water to be on even in our absence.  I called Aquagest who say we must have a leak.  Our management company check the property regularly so we knew the leak was not inside.  Roda maintain the pool and garden - they say there is no leak outside.  Roda are suggesting that the water meter is faulty.  However, Aguagest will not accept this.

So, where do we go from here?  We are doing some obvious checks now like trying to isolate the irrigation system to see if the meter still clocks up water useage.  Same with pool - but there is nothing obvious and yet we seem to be losing a lot of water.

Before we try and put pressure on Aquagest we need to be absolutely sure that there is not a leak underground somewhere.  Anything up to the meter on our plot is our responsibility.  Does anyone know a professional company that detect leaks?  Anyone experience a problem with their water meter?

As you can imagine it is a real worry.  We have turned the water off, even though this will have an adverse affect on the pool and garden but otherwise we are just draining away loads of money.  Getting desperate for ideas now - can anyone help?

The water bill is way too high for this tyoe of property

If you contact a good local plumber, and your management company should know somebody, the first thing they can do is a fairly easy reverse pressure test which will tell  if the pressue on the system is being maintained and be able to find if the leak is internally or externally and even the section where the leak is

Yiu may have a leaky swimming pool as most pools have auto fill systems that automatically top the pool up, easy test is to turn this off in the control box and see if the pool level drops

Register a formal complaint, using the from, against Agualest over the bills which then require then to do a proper investigation on the meter

I annot recommend anybody but a couple of companies spoken about on other forums, Woolyspanners and Drips and Leaks

Thanks Roy.

Do I get the formal complaint form from Aquagest to post back to them?  We will not be coming to Spain until March so, if this is the case, I will get my mangement company to try and pick one up.

They will normally require you to fill this in at their offuces so you will have to see if the property management company will do this for you
