How nice DV is looking!

Just thought I'd mention that, walking around DV with the dog (as I do often!), I'm relieved (hopefully not prematurely!) to be able to say I haven't seen any damage from the recent horrid weather!  The grounds, as always, are looking great, the pools are clean (although obviously not in use, but regularly maintained) and it's generally looking and feeling pretty tranquil!

I say this because, on my travels looking for a house to rent, I've noticed many collapsed roads, large cracks in houses, etc., on more recent developments (and in fact some older ones) - made me realise how lucky we were (touch wood!!).

Thought it might be appreciated to hear, whilst there is so much damage elsewhere in Manilva due to the torrential rains we have had.

That is good news Jan.  Thanks.  I have to say I have been worried about the development (and others) sliding down the mudd hillside!  Can't wait to come out in 3 weeks!

Fully agreed, the gardens & pools are in very good condition and luckily no serious storm damage, but the paintwork on some blocks badly needs attention to keep up the high standards of DV.

However, I think this may be on the agenda for the next AGM. Hope so as it may spoil DV if not addressed soon.

Thanks for the update Jan that's good news.  I must say that we were worried after reading the news online regarding the collapsed houses and flooding after the rain.  We are over for a week towards the end of March and looking forward to it.

I agree about the paintwork, though - hope that there is a plan for this to be dealt with soon.

It's good to hear that Duquesa has survived the awful weather intact! We'll be over to our apartment 21st-29th March and hopefully will have our garage remote by then! Air con remote is no longer manufactured, apparantly, but we are informed that the air con can be operated without one.

Look forward to seeing anyone who is out there during those dates.

Good news indeed.   When  we were there in January  the soil below block 7 was still  on the move after being put back following the  structural work on the road foundations.

Every couple of days some guys came along to fill in the cracks but it all seemed to be just the top soil settling down.

As regards the paintwork I did a lot of inspecting.   Those blocks with bad paint damage seemed to have had some attention.  Usually the damage is the result of

leaks (e.g. holes in the stair balcony floors  above - with  missing grout in the floor tiles.  Rain water penetrates through into the rendering causing the paint to fail.

In my block and some other blocks, some repair work had been done to fix the causes.   Sealant has been used to plug the holes and thus stop the water penetration.

N.B.  I noticed a small hole in my balcony floor and plugged it myself.  I would strongly urge everyone to check out their balcony floors and do the same.  Otherwise this might result in damage to the paintwork below and a re-painting cost for everyone.

Of course time is needed for the place to dry out before attempting to re-paint.
