we have got some people renting our house in August but they may not have a car. Please can someone tell me if the bus service increases in the summer and who does a taxi service in the village. How much would it cost to take 2 people to the beaches, bars of Los Alcazares etc Thanks

Hi Nicki & Alan before I  purchased a Spanish car I travelled all over by public transport even going by bus to vist my at La Mata far side of Torrevieja. At that time the bus service into SC was a bit hit and miss. Taxis I found expensive and unreliable, your best might be ask someone to drive them to the beach if bus service as not improved, another option for days out is the train service going into Murcia-Cartagena very cheap station in Balsicas.

Hi Roddy & Tracie

We are thinking of buying a car (because of the cost of hiring one).

Did you find buying it ok and did you buy it from a garage?

Cheers Pauline & Peter

Hi Pauline & Peter

We where flying out every month hiring cars, and can agree car hire charges being expensive. No problem with the actual purchase, I thought the hardest part was sourcing a good Spanish vehicle, and they don't come cheap either expect to pay more than the UK version. On the other hand I still consider that I have saved money in the long run. The dealer will take care of all the paperwork, all I had to do was sort out car insurance and obtain a Padron from Torre Pacheco. All I can say is be very careful if you decide to purchase a vehicle privatly as any outstanding fines and taxes you would be liable for. A plus point on purchasing a spanish car is road tax 57 euros for the year and ITV (mot) every 2 years.

I hope this helps if you need any further info just ask.
