Apparently certain doom and gloom and speculation on this forum is a bit annoying to the users of the other forum- I havent thought recent comments have been gloomy just realistic from people who are genuinely worried. But if my particular comments have been percieved as being negative I apologise- hard earned cash and all that sunk into that apartment sort of focusses the mind. I think the resort is lovely and has great potential if managed right.
But one piece of info as passed to me from someone listening to the podcast is that Mar Menor have applied for consideration for the Paramount Theme Park- how about that ?!!!

TQM, I agree, there is a difference between being negative and being realistic!
I dont have the facilities I was promissed. Fact! My property is worth half what I paid. Fact! I regret buying my property. Fact!
Then people get annoyed when I am not happy?
Some people on this forum need to realise, that an open forum will contain people who have different views. This post will no doubt annoy certain members of the "Half Full Brigade", however I made a mistake, I have to live with that mistake, but I dont have to be happy about it!

Darren,
I am with you on this one. Whilst at times I try to stay positive about what we have - mainly because we are stuck with it at the moment - in truth we don't have anything close to the concept or facilities that we bought into.
Each time I arrive at Condado, I wish I had bought at La Torre or Mar Menor. They really do look like 5* resorts whereas ours looks like a very inferior 3* at the moment. I personally don't like the Al Kazar town centre - it looks like a prison to me, completely lacking in character, but I am well aware that there are others that like it. It is certainly a very poor comparison to the town centre at La Torre.
There are things I like about Condado but even the eternal optimists and the "glass full" brigade cannot deny that our resort looks untidy, shabby, and is a far cry from that which we all thought we were buying into. The services we have are appalling managed - in fact if you were rating Condado on the basis of facilities and service, it probably wouldn't even achieve 2 star status!
As you so rightly say, we can't do anything about it but we don't have to like it, and right now, I don't like it!!!
Rant over - wait for the eternal optimists to shoot us down for being negative!

Don't worry not going to shoot you down, but at the moment we cannot compare CDA with La torre or Mar Menor, both of these resorts have been built for a number of years, and pretty well complete before the credit crunch, CDA was hit at the wrong time, I don't think we can just blame PW, because the building they have done is great, all the gardens look great, I know there is loads to do, and loads that hasn't been done as was originally promised, no one anticipated this crisis that has hit the economies, but at least we have a near finished resort with loads of potential, sit tight and hope that it all works out in the future, I really think it will.

Have to agree. I do think some people have taken an overly optimistic view of the resort. Realistically one shop, one pub, one restaurant, a pro shop a mile from the first tee, half the resort as underdeveloped scrubland, doesn't shout 5* to me.
But then I don't, and never did, expect it to be 5* in such a short time period. Mar Menor and La Torre have many more years of development over CdA so no use comparing our facilities to them. What CdA does have is potential to be as good or better. I've never played Mar Menor golf course but CdA is streets ahead of the La Torre course. Staying at La Torre for a couple of weeks (2 years ago) I found the road layout cramped and nowhere near CdA. I wasn't overly impressed with the "Town Centre" but I think that has been added to since then. CdA has the big advantage with majority of dwellings only 2 apartments high which I think is great as you have some space.
I fully understand how people can see the possibilities and therefore are very positive about the resort, and I agree to an extent. But I also can see the why people are negative when comparing what we have to what we were sold.

Being lucky enough to have visited CDA quite a few times over the past year i have noticed some changes, ie golf course and driving range opening.I have also been viewing a lot of the threads regarding what has and what has not been delivered. it is correct that no-one forseen the economic down turn that has crippled a lot of businesses all over the world but it still does not detract from the simple facts that PW management of the existing facilities is a shambles. The Clover for example the staff dont sem to give a hoot about keeping the few customers they do have happy. The restaurant in my view is a joke, to many mixed reviews and not enough good reviews among those. For a company who are struggling you would think someone in the management team would get a grip of the situation and give the complete set up a good shake. All the talk about Paramount on off where is it going to be does not make any difference to the simple facts.I dont think this will happen as there is a relatively new theme park ie terra Mitica only a couple of hours up the road which has struggled and i dont think has ever made any profit since the day it opened 8 years ago. Get one thing clear i have no regrets about my purchase on CDA whatsoever, and PW have delivered a bar and resaurant as such but i think it is a long way off from being a 5 star resort and the sooner some people come to terms with this the better.Time will tell how things pan out but everyone ranting on various forums whether your glass is half full or empty is not going to change the plain fact that what will be will be.These are only my views and as i say i have no regrets about my purchase and enjoy my visits to CDA, it will take time but the management whoever they may be have to start looking at the big picture if they want to attract future buyers into the resort.

Obviously the benefit any future buyers will have is that they will able to visit the resort to see for themselves
The issue for those who bought off plan is that you were given the typical sales pitch from Polaris, agents etc which now bears little resemblence to the finished article. I still have the original brochure which makes Harry Potter look like an autobiography
That said, I am still happy with the purchase and went into this with my eyes open, taking most of the promises with a pinch of salt. I still have hopes it will be up to the standard of Mar Menor, La Torre etc in the coming years despite the obvious financial problems of Polaris.
