hi everyone hpoe all is well, can anyone answer me a question, we have purchased a penthouse and been told that no interior and exterior lights are conected up and that the wiring is safely taped up and you put your own fittings up is that right and if so can we purchase interior and exterior lights in uk and use them in spain

Hi Chris and Shirley

Yes that is right about the lights - none fitted and they are taped up.

I don't know if it is alright to buy them from England but I wouldn't.

There are a lot of places that sell lights and you know that they conform to the Spanish wiring if you buy them out there.

Good Luck with your purchasing

There is no difference in the wiring for lights in the UK compared to Spain and the only real difference is that we do not use banyonet type bulds and they can be difficult to find  and expensive to buy in Spain, especially the energy type as all fittings are the screw cap type

There is a good slection of lights especially in the big DIY shops like Leroy Merlin, IKEA and BricoDepot (B&Q)

Nomally these properties have outside lights already fitted and if you need an electrician please PM or mail me

I have seen bayonet capped bulbs in the Iceland shop though having screw capped bulbs and fittings would be a better bet long term.

Yes but they are 2.5 times the cost of buying the screw type

We purchased all our lights from a Cash & Carry in the UK and fitted them ourselves and they were all the screw type bulb fitting. We also purchased all our Phillips low energy bulbs (screw type) from Morrison's Supermarket for a mere 10p each. They seem to have a regular promotion on these and I believe other Supermarkets such as Tesco do something similar.

Low energy bulbs here cost about  2 - 2.50 euros each.
