It brings a smile to my face when I read about the La Bretanita or The Zalabi in puerto Mazarron. Having visited my apartment on four occassions in two years I have attempted to experience life outside Condado and Camposol, so its really terrific to hear others recommendations and I certainly look foward to sampling the delights of these and other restaurants.
Over the years I have come to accept (unless others can prove otherwise ) that Spanish food, particularly in the southern regions is poor.
In September I travelled into the Espuna mountains and found the restaurant where, on occassion the wild boar come down to 'sample the food'. I must say that that the views were spectecular, but so far nothing compared to those found in parts of Yorkshire, Scotland or the Antrim coast in Ireland. The food was good and wine refreshing yet my perference would be to sit in a location where I could relax enjoying good food, wine and watch the world go by.
I too have worked accross the world from the coast of Bahrain to Atlantic city in the USA and sometimes the most unlikely venues have been the most fulfilling, so it was in Bolneuvo. Having had a swim and a beer at the beach bar I ventured to have have a meal at Lobos. Best night I've had anywhere.
The open kitchen afforded the view of flames leaping up as my steak was cooked, the starters of french onion soup, mains of steak folllowed by plum crumble and an Irish coffee was, in my opinion superb.
I have tried to keep this 'Secret' to myself and my friends in fear it becoming familiar. My dissapointment is that the chef/owner is moving on and so if you want to sample find food go to lobos de mar before its too late. Its exterior is unassuming but believe me your visit will be a pleasurable one.
Regretfully I will miss my visits to this establishment and although I am trying to arrange my invitation to attend the 'last supper' in October it seems beyond reach.
If you are on Condado in October and have an evening free and if you can book at table then try this restaurant, you will not be dissappointed.
