Condado Clubhouse

What is the latest up to date news on the clubhouse?

The forum rumour appears to be that Polaris have blocked the planning permission? If this is the case I am speechless that Ola Golf, who are one of the best in the business, have missed such a fundamental issue with their lease agreement. I think the course is world class however people just will not put up with the current process of booking in at the Town Centre and then travelling a full kilometre to tee off.  I do not buy this excuse.

Does anybody have any cast iron facts on what the actual situation is?

Hard to identify any cast iron facts when it comes to PW- on the face of it  Olagolf and the Banks didnt realise the parcel of land where the clubhouse should be wasn't included in the many assets PW passed over to the Banks. It seems to have taken a long time for this decision to have finally come out and maybe there are more negatiations ongoing or maybe PW scuppered it late on in the face of the Paramount proposal. It could even be that they were willing for there to be a clubhouse but not for it to be a cafe/bar.

I know that they usually 'own' any food and drink outlets on their resorts and remember that many. many months back someone posted that they or their family had made enquiries about taking over the running of Manzano's only to be knocked back. Also recall someone else had proposed opening a pizza place in Al Kasar- to also be fobbed off. The only difference that I know of is The Clover on Mar Menor which is part of the hotel complex. Even the supermarkets are PW's I believe- they are just leased out. However, outside investors would have been able to take up unit's on the Oasis if it had gone ahead but again food outlets would have been PW's

So, nothing cast iron; from us anyway. Maybe the final decision on Paramount will see some movement one way or another.

Having received an email last week regarding the new prices for memberships etc i think that i shall be giving much thought to my renewal due to the lack of progress with the clubhouse.According to one thread a few weeks ago it was going to be built not by the end of October but before then.Ola Golf in there wisdom had plans of some kind for some kind of clubhouse.Is it the case of Ola Golf telling people what they want to hear as per usual with all involved in CDA. I cant believe a so called professional company like Ola Golf drew up plans for a clubhouse without even checking that they had land to build it on.Then again this is Spain and CDA in particular. They are asking people to pay good money to play on a course which still needs a bit of work round the edges and on a lot of the waste ground plus no clubhouse of any description, either temporary or permanent. The other weeks down pours washed out the course for a good few days and if this is a sign of things to come i think we could be in serious trouble unless someone takes the bull by the horns and sorts this problem as well. I have read many topics on this forum regarding Camposol, many making implications as if its not to pleasant a place to live etc, etc i know there course overall is not as good as CDA but at least they have a clubhouse which is more than can be said of our so called 5 star resort with one bar, now no restaurant and a supermarket.

I would guess that if Paramount get the backers and the location is confirm in the near future, PW will be building a Hotel and Club House similar to the other PW Resorts especially if the location is CDA.

All speculation and not a fact in sight.

If the paramount location is CDA will that further delay any clubhouse?  Maybe the banks will then try to flog the course back to PW and until that is sorted possibly no clubhouse.

I can't fault PW for their vision but their attitude to the people who have bought into that vision is something else.

If PW are holding the land on the boundaries of the course and stopping the clubhouse my view is stuff them.  There's that much waste area between holes, surely Olagolf can plonk down this prefab clubhouse somewhere else thats actually within the course.  Probably will have to scale it down to something more basic depending on utilities etc.  But might possibly bring a bit more atmosphere as well...nothing like a pint with a few golf balls flying by!!

If Polaris are holding this up Olagolf should come out and say so

I Have emailed the director of golf at Ola Golf to try and see if i can get a REAL answer from him. Ill reply later with details.

Why not post his e-mail address and we can all get in touch with him and if he can see the number of people who would use and support the club house then this may give him the incentive to make it happen. Regards Pat

 Just read http://naranjosjardine1.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/letter-to-olagolf/ so it looks like the presidents have made contact with Olagolf, wonder if they got a response?

 Patrick I think that would look very unprofessional on my part and its against the law. However i did receive an email from him. I have also seen that the presidents have been in contact. However at the end of the day there are a lot of ranglings that olagolf have to get through before any building/clubhouse is put up. 

Polaris World still own the land where the original clubhouse was meant to be built. However olagolf are still going ahead with putting a temporary clubhouse up near the parking area where the trolleys are. The timescale of this is still unkown to him and myself. 

But what you all have to understand is that even though he runs all 3 courses he is just a minor player in a company like olagolf. He has pushed and pushed for this clubhouse but he has to wait for the people at the top to give them the nod.

My father in law has also been told that there will be a temporary clubhouse- however clubhouse suggests different things to different people and his person said it will just be a cabin style building housing the golf shop, for paying for a round of the golf and should have somewhere to  get a drink- not best described as a rendevous place or bar- pretty basic. Not sure how accurate this all is as its the same person who told us the club house would be two converted apartments at the base of one of the penthouse blocks (they said tower blocks) close to the trolley bay. As they later said there would be a nightclub at this new 'venue' I'm inclined to believe their source is having them on- however a temporary clubhouse that does the basics has the ring of truth. Although the idea of a nightclub with a bright neon 'CONDADO' sign has its attractions!!

Hi Folks,

Just read on another site that the mayor of Murcia is introducing a Golf Club for children and it is to take palce on a Saturday morning at Condado from 10am to 12.am dependent on numbers .  Parents will have to register there children with the Alhama Sports Department if they are interested in them participating.

There is also a small tournament to be held on the 16th October at Condado.

I think these are all positives for us and I don't think we will wait too long for our clubhouse, if this kind of activity continues.
