Have anyone got the name of another insurance company apart from INTERSURE as their prices have risen considerably since last year ?
Many thanks

The cheapest insurance is through the community. The community insurance now covers the building so you only need content cover which is around €70. see the community website for details.

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but the community buildings insurance does not insure my property to a sufficient value to satisfy the conditions of my CAM Bank mortgage.
I tried to cancel my CAM Bank buildings insurance but was not permitted on these grounds. Therefore I am still paying €95 for buildings insurance even though we have community buildings insurance.
I have also taken out the contents policy through the community.

steeley 1981 i have found whenever you try and cancel anything with cam bank they will try and put obstacles in your way or even forget that you have cancelled and charge you again the following year as i found this week with the credit card charge for cards i dont have with them if i could remortgage i would be away from them asap
all i can say is dont take there first response as final and ask more questions

I have also used the community insurance coverlooks good and also Milenium will help with the claims if needed.
Also just like the previous post, I tried to cancel my insurance policy with SolBank and they said that I could not cancel the insurance policy (only 2 months in) and I must tell them before the next renewal date or the money would automatically be taken again.

Redpaul,
Believe me, I am fully aware of how CAM Bank operate (had many dealings with them since completing a while ago).
However, I obtained a certificate of insurance from AXA (for buildings) which clearly stated the insured value. This is much less than the insured value required for the CAM Bank mortgage (T&Cs). Unfortunately I couldn't argue with them on this one (not that I didn't try).

Hi David,
I showed Nica, from Mileniun, your post yesterday and she will contact CAM to see if she can get them to accept the community cover.
I'll let you know if she gets anywhere.

Okey then, there seems to be two many problems with the community insurance and those with mortgages.
1. If the value of the mortgage is greater than the insured value in the community policy
2. In some cases the T&C's in the mortgage states that the owners should have a individual insurance policy. This clause would appear to be down to the brach that prepared the mortgage as some mortgages even with the same bank will have this clause and some will not.
The answer in both cases is to get an individual property insurance policy, Nica can give you a quote for this and will usually be cheaper than the banks.

Thanks Phil.
I have taken individual policy with CAM Bank again this year (€95) but will certainly change policy provider next year. Just need to remember the two month notice period when I do.
