hi all,could anyone please inform me of a good car hire company,you know 1 that doesnt nail you with extra costs an high fuel charges.thanks

Have just booked my car hire with www.alandaluscarhire.com/default.aspx they meet you outside arrivals at San javier airport with the car all ready to go as all the paper work is done beforehand just the payment needed so no Queuing in the arrivals hall (last time we came over waited over a hour  in the arrivals hall  to sort out  the car hire with Gold car and they charge a inflated price for the fuel)  they also  provide the car on a full/full fuel basis so no upfront charges for fuel hence you only pay for what you use .just fill in the booking form on there web site and they  will e-mail you back with the price and  type of car you need

Every time I come over I do the usual trawl through the car hire co's - and every time I get the same result - Do You Spain come up with the best prices.  The only thing I do is email them if I get allocated Goldcar and request another co - which they do without any hassle and email me back.  My Easter trip is costing me £6.40 per day in car hire (fully comp, 5 door/ 5 seater car) with DYS.  I would be surprised if another co can beat that??!!  Arlene

I agree fully with the praise of www.economycarhire.com . When all the Icelandic volcano trouble was happening we had two flights cancelled at the last minute (one when we were leaving for the airport!) They refunded/amended bookings immediately without any hassle and I would not hestitate to recommend them.

why is it im getting a quote for £90 cheapest during the 2nd week of may (approx £16 a day) and you're getting one for £6.50 a day during easter peak time! 

I booked around 8 weeks ago.  The earlier (or later) you book then the better price you get.  The good thing about DYS is that you can keep scouring the rates and you don't pay a thing til you collect the car.  If I see a better price then I book it and cancel the previous reservation without penalty.

carrentals.co.uk is great, especially for picking up at Alicante airport and dropping off at Murcia airport or any other airport if you want to do that and it's usually not much more expensive to do so. Or travelsupermarket.com is also worth a look if your intended car rental is more simple and if you read their term and conditions, re. Fuel charges, you can find whichever fuel policy suits you, as there are car deals available where you can return the car full of fuel or buy a full tank of fuel on arrival etc..
