Just spent 10 days at Roda. The club house was as disappointing as ever. Great facility with friendly, likeable staff but we saw the pasta dishes being microwaved, the meat in the baguettes was tough as old leather, my wife had to send back a lasagne with no meat at all in it and the music was the same old depressing rubbish as it has been for about the last 2 years. I would have complained but experience has taught me the management couldn't care less. Visit at your peril. This message was last edited by jdwhy on 25/04/2011.

Having eaten in the Clubhouse on 20+ occasions i can honestly say my food has always been cooked to a high standard & i always find the atmosphere to be very good with a mix of British & Spanish people.
Looking forward to going back over in July !

Hi Rusty
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I guess it depends on what you compare it to. The food however in many cases is heated in a microwave, not cooked, and it invariably tastes like it in my opinion. Sit beside the kitchen and see for yourself. This is not what I expect of a 4 or 5 star facility under any circumstances.
I am embarrassed by the disgraceful quality Collados offer up and I have nothing to gain by saying so. I just wish they would improve as the Club House is convenient and in the absence of the hotel, it is the only option on site as we all know, so it is an important part of the offer at Roda.
Since the previous operators baled out the standards have been going steadily downhill. The menu has gotten smaller and the quality of food is shameful, but that is just my experience of it
I am sure you will continue to enjoy it and good luck to you in doing so. Many people appear to agree with you but I also know there are many who don't.
It is just a pity the area being rented to the health club didn't go to a bar operator who could offer a sunnier and more welcoming atmosphere along with some decent food cooked properly on the premises.

THE WAY I SEE IT IS WE DO NOT HAVE A CLUB HOUSE AS SUCH.
WE HAVE A PRO-SHOP WITH A CHANGING FACILITY WHICH IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
IN MY OPNION COLLADO DE RODA ARE NOT INTERESTED IN MEMBERS / OWNERS ETC . THEY CATER MORE FOR THE LOCAL SPANISH COMMUNITY.
LIKE MOST OWNERS WE HAVE TRIED THE FOOD MANY TIMES AND IF IT WAS RATED 1-10 THEN MAYBE 6 WOULD BE A FAIR ASSESSMENT.
THE SERVICE IS ALSO A LOTTERY SOMETIMES GOOD SOMETIMES ALMOST NON-EXISTENT

I agree that it is a pity the old clubhouse building didn't go to a bar/restaurant business, an alternative place to eat and drink on site in a less formal atmosphere would have been great. A bit of healthy competition would probably do wonders.

I diplomatically agree with all the comments below but lets think back 4-5 years when there was next to no entertainment on Roda.... at least now we have a "club house" or whatever it could be classed as, on site that is bringing in business whether it be locals or otherwise, its got to be a good thing. at least through the summer months you now have a choice of staying on the complex and being entertained OR going into Los alcarzares. Obviously more choice onsite would be even better and think this will come with time, although things are going at a much slower rate than most of us expected things are still moving in the right direction albeit at a snails pace.
However, having said that there is a definite feeling of spanish owners/customers being catered for more than other nationals, in my opinion, it may be a language barrier situation which I hold my hands up to, however this wasnt a problem when we were handing over xxxxxxx amounts of Euros to purchase at Roda and the staff should accept that it is a multicultural development, as an owner most English people I speak to are doing their best to learn the language, but I think it is difficult if your visits to Spain are limited and you dont get the chance to practise( or practice, never sure about that one!!)

Just returned after 10 day break & site does look better every time. However the club house which should be a huge asset to Roda & its owners is let down (in my opinion) by poor quality staff first & foremost. They show little respect to British people & ignored my owners card on each occasion we visited, despite being shown on arrival. The quality of food & price was reasonable. I will continue to use the club house but would be a better experience if the management actualy speak with the owners who basically keep the place running. Oh & would use even more if they ever sort access from Phase 3/4 but will this ever happen?

We are just back from Roda, and I must admit that the "Club House" is not being looked after correctly. We came back at the weekend, and we noticed that the entrance to the "Club House" was very tired, and that some of the tiles were cracked (we reported this last September to Roda) had not yet been replaced, very sad indeed.
On the point of the food and service. The menu has not changed much, but the staff were very pleasant and apologised when i asked why it was taking so long. Also the atmosphere was fine, no probs. The weather could have been better, but all in all we love Roda.

Just returned from Roda. Club house was fine although a greater choice on menu would be great & appreciated!
But what's with the 'Night Club? At 11.30 the Club House bar closes and if you want another drink you have to relocate upstairs to the Night Club, which is fine (nice place, nice idea) but the drink prices are much more expensive! Must be climbing the stairs puts the prices up!!
This often means that people drink-up & head home (or go upstairs for 1 until they realize the prices) instead of upstairs. Would it not be better economic sense to charge the same prices & put on special offers to encourage people to use the Night Club. Shame to see this facility not being used especially as late night entertainment is hard to come by in the town.
What about putting another bar/restaurant on the waste ground where Phase 5 was meant to be? This would be very handy for people on phases 3 & 4.

Hi Jacq1
Presumably the night club has music and dancing? Is it pretty empty then? Do you know if it will stay open in September? I am entertaining guests who have a 'mile stone' birthday, perhaps I better not say how old, but they love to dance - have been trying to find some venues to take them! Any ideas appreciated!

Hi Mrs H,
Not sure if the nightclub will stay open in September as it was very quiet at end of July when Roda was quite busy.
The music is via a pre-recorded list although not too bad. You can get up and dance although not many did when we where there. You could try asking at the Club House shop for opening hours.
Have you ever been to the Arches bar (opposite the Robilmar restaurant)? They have live music Monday-Saturday with a quiz on Sunday night (still not sure about September). When we visited, the place was very busy and although the music finished at 12 lots of people where up dancing.
Another place to try is Time Out bar (along the strip of bar/restaurants going towards San Javier). They have Karoke nights & special nights, Abba, Michael Jackson & singers. They can email you with 'What's on' each month.
Hope this helps. Maybe someone else knows other places.

Thanks Jacq, that is brilliant information. I will certainly investigate further and if all else fails we will just have to dance around our handbags to the background track in the Clubhouse - I am sure we will have a good time!
Other suggestions I have had are the Boulevard, Mar Menor Resort and Mulligans, La Manga Club. Bit further afield but wonder if anyone has been there?

There is a new "club" near to the Arches - can't remember what it's called and don't know about age group but they stay open late and have music too.
