Hi all, grab a brew coz this is going to be a long one!!!
Recently returned from a fantastic Easter at CdA.
I remember about 5 or more years ago first comming onto this site. I among a group of people who had all put their deposits down on a field in the middle of nowhere. Just a track for a road (RM23 etc not even started yet.), and a promise from PW of the amazing resort they were to build. Using this forum I remember how those people shared and communicated with each other vitaly important and re-assuring information. Major important processes nobody had been through before were resolved on here. Then inbetween the scares, anxieties, and trepidation. The laughs the comradeship (Golden buggie girls).
Shame how now so few people on here, are obviously using many psuedonyms with malacious intent. Imagining themselves to be so clever hiding behind their computer screen, whilst spoiling it for those who have genuine concerns or interest. But I digress.
On my visit I was quickly allowed to pass at security. Thats right folks. Even though I had not been there since Xmas I was remembered. Why? Because my surname translates into a famous brand of cervesa. Straight into the Clover to see the Fantastic Yanela Brooks. In Spain she is a bit of a TV celebrity and diva. Wont see that at your local back home! Remembered and made to feel most welcome by the barstaff. Also the first meeting on this visit of some of the many and true friends I have made from this site. Glad to say I did meet up with a good few friends from here this time (thanks to Scapa for arranging the coffee morning). Unfortunately became ill (nothing to do with PW or excess beers) and missed out on some good meal dates with friends. Even though I was ill it did not dampen my spirit..
My apartment still looks fantastic, so too the views from it. To think I can be in a noisey factory at 06:00am in the morning. Then sitting on my terrace 20:30pm same day with a cold beer in my hand........Bliss! My family (mother 86 to my youngest 23) all love it. My friends do too, oh yeah and the golf. Puerto Mazarron is a delight, as are many of the other beeches in the area. Also play by the rules of Ryanair and I have done the return including all taxes for £14.99 Yep £14.99 return inc all taxes.
I absoloutely love it! The place! The people! My family and friends are so relaxed, chilled, and happy when I take them there. 5 or more years ago I was promised a phenomenal resort by PW. It did not develop as it should have. But I have some fantastic friends from it. As for the resort itself. YEAH it'll still transform into what was promised within the next 5-7 years.
For Darren and all other negative minded people. I saw a father there dancing with his two teenage daughters and wife in the Clover. All laughing and joking without a care in the world. During the week I saw many similar incidents. Its not all about the money, but family and happines. No matter how much you whine and moan its not going to change it. If anything may give you ulcers. So why not embrace it, change your attitude and enjoy it while you can.
Unemployment is high at the moment. Rather than languishing on the dole many youngstersI have joined the armed forces. 18 year old kids upwards being killed or maimed because they dont want to be on the dole. Because this government says they should go. Miles away from their family in a strange country.
And here's some of us - Priveledged to have a beautiful second home in a beautiful location. Yet we can find things to moan about with it. Lets get things in perspective shall we!
Embrace what you have, dont whine about what you have not.!
Cheers
Frank

Well said Frank.
Our visit to CdA at Easter was just a long weekend, short but sweet. It was nice to meet up with new friends who have become good friends and we also throughly enjoy being at our apartment. Meeting up at The Clover on Easter Monday was lovely, finally able to put names to faces.
Its just great to have that opportunity to get away and get a bit of sunshine and family and friends who have used the apartment are all keen to return. They all seem far less bothered about the lack of facilities on the resort than we expected and have been happy to get out and about locally, particularly Puerto Mazarron. In fact they have all been happy to have a swimming pool and have few drinks in The Clover (and in the summer enjoyed the Friday Party Nights there) and chose to go to the apartment to self cater rather than have a catered Hotel holiday, so having a restaurant and cafe's on hand doesnt appear to be the be all and end all.
I understand that for some the fact the resort hasn't developed as planned has got to be a disappointment but what we do have is very good. This message was last edited by Jann on 03/05/2011.

Great Post Frank!!!
Now I'm back at work wishing my life away again to be at the Condado again! LOL!
There are many people who think exactly like you but don't post anything! (for obvious reasons).
Also I would just like to mention about the many permanent residents who work very hard in trying to get things moving along in a positive manner on CDA, so I would like to take "my hat off" to them as we all know it is always a thankless task for them!
Hope to see you and everyone else soon.

Agree with all these comments. Don't usually post opinion's on the resort, but every time we fly out to Condado coming home is becoming more and more painful.
The resort (and it's surroundings) is what you make it.

Well done Frank
It was great seeing you in the Clover on Monday morning - shame you weren't well enough to come for drinks on Tuesday night.
Absolutely love it - roll on 5 weeks time!
Back in early days the forum was a great help for those who were completing and with it we all knew what to expect and where you get the best deals on furniture etc. Because of the negativity we also very rarely post and find it easier to keep in touch with all our Condado friends on facebook which is a shame
I agree with everything that you have said. We have just returned from a fantastic time at Condado where we met up with some great friends and neighbours. Infact we needed to come home for a rest, we were so tired after all the meet ups and meals out. Thanks everyone - you know who you are!
We have a very good community out there - lets work together and make Condado the resort that we bought into. The community which used to pull together like we did in the olden days on this forum

Your words were a joy to read.
At last some one who says it as it really is.
A fab place & yes we are very lucky to have a second home where we are always made to feel very welcom
Oh how we wish we could visit more often.
Like you we have met some wonderful people not only from the UK. We have great spanish neighbours who always treat us like long lost friends & now concider them all as friends.
We too have had friends visit & stay in our apartment & even my youngest son & his girlfrien love it too even though there is nothing near at hand for the younger groovers.
The cost of your Ryan Air flight is fantastic but we would happily pay Monarch prices & then travel from Alicante rather than miss out on our very rewarding & relaxing visits to Condado.
We too stood looking at the view & nothing else when we made our choice to buy on Condado
and like you & others have never regreted it for one moment
The Security Guards remember us, but I think that due to Ham having a great tan ha ha.
Best wishes to you & all of the happy & positive Condonians

Well said my friend, i have only logged on to EOS because when you left on friday evening you said you were going to write a post, You said it might get a few negative comments. All positive till now.
When you left on Friday Andrea and I went on to have a great night with the people i met through a round of Golf, infact we never had a bad day there all Easter (except the weather and the sunderland match).
Anyway best of luck to you Frank.
Ant and Andrea
Oh and the night cancelled at La Finca with the road being closed due to ridiculous amounts of rain

What a great post.
We only bought earlier this year and took our three kids out over Easter for the first time. Apart from the dreaded trip to Ikea, it was brilliant! We loved it and the kids loved it. We met a few people in our garden and in the Clover, all of whom were so friendly - like a community! The kids have made some friends and are already asking when they can go back. It's just a shame we're not able to get back there until the summer.
PS - nice to see a fellow mackem on the forum.

Completely agree Frank - we love the area from quadbiking in the mountains to lazing on the many lovely beaches or trying out new restaurants and bars. We love condado from lazing in the pool, to sitting on terrace watching the sun go down or dancing in the clover after a few too many!! But best of all its great to catch up with new friends who are now great friends- in fact the only thing we can complain about is the hangovers after a night out with you........... hopefully see you soon.

Hey Frank the old crewe are always here lurking in the background, posting occasionally, getting naffed off with the 'POD' people that's 'PROFIT OF DOOM' people and the absolute muppets that have to resort to threats..... BUT as you can see they can't spoil it for us we all love the place.
I am out every month even if it is only for a few days, going tomorrow for my monthy fix and yes I also play the Ryanair game - FANTASTIC, I know many slag them off but they work for me!!
Not managed to get my hands on a gold golf buggie as yet but there is time yet, I'm in it for the long haul
