train to Madrid

Hi,

Just wondered whether anyone has taken the train to Madrid and if so where they got it from etc. Coming out in September and fancy a couple of nights up there.

Hi Mandy,

            Some one maybe able to advise better but you can get the train from Alhama  to Murcia, think every  10 minutes past the hour ( free parking) ,then train to Madrid from Murcia. Not done it ourselves but i believe you can pre book tickets on the Renfe site, they also offer special online deals

Beau Brummies is right regarding the train.  You would get the train from Alhama to Murcia and then change there for Madrid.  We looked to go up to Madrid by train when we were over in April but at that time it was going to work out very expensive -182 euros return for 2 adults and 1 child, so we decied to drive up.  Very straightforward drive and took  approx 4 hours.  It's not a bad drive either.  I guess if you book early enough there might be good deals on RENFE, but we didnt see any.
