local elections today across spain

 The pp party (equivalent to the consevatives) have had tremendous results  in most of the spanish regions including  those on  the costa calida. These will determine the new mayors and elections are held every 4 years. Obviously corruption has been a huge issue this year and it is interesting to see the large number of women who have put their names up for election.The psoe was only succesful in the west and north west.

It looks like Zapateros psoe (labour party equiv ) is in big trouble in the general elections next year

Zapatero( the prime minister ) has already said he will stand down.

I sincerely hope it  will lead to an end to corruption, greater consumer protection and a root and branch reform of the judicial system that appears to favour the few over the majority.

Hope every one who registerd to vote did so yesterday, our local centre for voting was in the small school house situated behind the La Caverna restaurant, bit of a mix up because we all turned up to vote at Alhama only to be told we were at the wrong venue, congrats to Jill of Condado Alhama Services for sorting us all out
