None of you have mentioned the best place to find tapas in Arcos, which, to be honest, I am a bit reluctant to reveal!  This is because at the best of times it is difficult to get a table.  But last time we were there at the beginning of June, they had put some tables outside (which isnt easy where they are located).  We have leanred that lunchtimes are good to get a table and early evening (8.30 ish before the really busy period around 9 - 10pm).  This is La Carcel which is just beyond Zindicato (I like the tapas here but La Carcel is even better), you carry on up the hill toward the Parador and it is on the left barely 50m beyond Zindicato.  Try it and let me know what you think.  My favourite is the aubergine and goat's cheese sprinkled with honey!

Great to see some good positive posts.

We too can not fault the Cafe Bonsay.

We also ate at 'La Carcel' - Perhaps a little expensive for what it was (salad) but it does have a really good atmosphere. We would definately go back.

 Hi

Just back from a great Easter break in Arcos. The weather was way better then last year and the locals indulged in processions with gusto. The one by the ,,hermandad'' next to the sports shop El Gallo Azul was particular enthralling since the bearers performed complicated step changes to the music. It looked like the madonna was dancing along, the crowd loved it and rewarded every change with shouts of ole and applause. Spinetingling!

The above mentioned Joven Flamenco is no more, neither the confectioner on the opposite side of the road.

I was really sad to see that Zindicato had been replaced by another outfit but then, to my delight, found that they had moved to a bigger place just opposite of Carrefour. As popular and good as ever.

Some shops have closed but it seemed to me that there are a lot more bars open.

We had a fantastic time and one particular incident at a round-about in Jerez gave me the chance to visualize M- theory.

It might be interesting for some that there is a cash converter in Jerez with decent second hand stuff and keen prizes. Might be worth a look.

Wish I could be in Arcos for '' el clasico'' on Saturday. There is going to be a lot of shouting and cursing at the telly, and that is just the grandmothers.

Can't wait to go back.

Hi we were out for Easter also. We watched the procession from the bottom of the Calle de Bornos. Very impressive and we watched the early bull run from near the Gallo Azul (behind the big steel barriers).. It was absolutely mental, never seen anything quite like it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time ther again, also can't wait to get back out. Shame we didn't get the chance to meet up. We met quite a few residents this time and everyone seems so friendly and helpful.

There is talk of having a BBQ in the complex in the summer for all, hope that can be arranged.

We passed the hotel / bar Voy Voy several times and it seemed quite busy with locals and seemed to have been done up a bit, didn't get chance to try it out.

We were up at the start of the bull run this year and even so I did not see the bull ( same as last year down at Gallo Azul) the atmosphere was great. I was quite surprised by the sense of fun in these difficult economic days. Even more surprising was that a glass of beer and two Sprite still only cost one Euro each and that on what must be one of the busiest days of the year. We are always up for a barbecue and I am sure we will be there during the summer. Might work out.

What's the situation in the apartements? Are many occupied? We did not see to many lights in the evenings.

 That's a great picture!

We were right next to the container but all we got to see were his horns during the unloading. After that only scrambling Spaniards.

Fantastic photo Nigel. Not sure I'd want to get too much closer!
