Car hire charges

It's been some time since I corresponded on this blog but wonder if other people have been 'DONE' by GOLD CARS from the airport.

We ordered 2 cars and were LAUGHINGLY (not)' upgraded' to larger cars with a much higher fuel capacity as our choices were not available.     We were charged for a full tank of fuel for both the larger cars.  We only used a quarter of the fuel.  UPGRADE? They got 10's of litresof fuel free from us and the next clients will be paying again for fresh air.

 USE THEM AT YOUR PERIL!!.  Only order cars from firms who ask you to return the vehicles with the same amount of fuel that you started with.

I think you'll find this fuel policy is now the norm with car hire firms.  Obviously a good way to eek out a little (or a lot) more money from us.  

Holiday Autos webiste is good, as when looking for a car to hire there is sometimes a little fuel pump icon next to the car, this indicates that you get the car full and you take it back full.  But hardly any of the cars have this now.

I wouldn't point the finger at just Gold Car, all of them now do it.

All the car hire companies now charge for a fuel except for very short term hire - ie 4 days or less, when you can do full/full

Gold car do appera to be the worse though in terms of the amount they charge for the fuel.

One of our clients was stung for €70 for a full tank of fuel in a small car with a small tank. Our own Astra won;t take that amount of fuel to even top up what is probably a much larger tank.

Solmar at San Javier Airport don't charge for petrol you just give it back the same as you got it.
