Snr Jose has taken more 'photos  and posted them on the SMD website.

All the scaffolding has been removed from block 8 and a van is making a delivery at the rear of block 6.

I enlarged the 'photo and then 'Googled' the name on the  van. It belonged to a firm of Kitchen suppliers. There are also signs of new deliveries of building materials around the site and the edgings have been laid for the road which runs along the rear of the townhouses.

Has anyone managed to contact SMD, either by 'phone (which at first was not answered and which now seems to be attached to a fax manchine) or by using the 'contact' email form on the website?

Perhaps some-one can answer my query.

After seeing on the February 'photos from SMD, I noticed that the condensers for the air-con. are situated on the apartment terraces, after being assured when we purchased they were to be sited on the roof.

Does anyone know how the hot/cool air is to be circulated? Is it ducted through vents or are there to be wall hung plastic units?

Thanks in advance.

Sandra - The airconditioning is "central" - means there are no individual plastic units in each flat. All you see is small vents in each room. Very neatly done.  I dont remember seeing any condensors in the terraces during my visit in most of the apartment blocks (may be I wasn't observant enough). However, I dont know about the townhouses. Not been able to get thro to SMD yet.

Dont see any van deliverying anything. May be that photo has been removed ??

Captain007,

These 'photos have todays date. There were other 'photos taken yesterday lunchtime but they have now been removed. I wonder if they are going to put new pics. every day.

Thank you for the info. on the air-con, it was worrying me. We turned down an apartment in La Cala Hills because of the wall hung units.

I'm not hallucinating,honestly!! ;-)

The name on the van was 'Fabrisol', and they were operating a sort of conveyor belt up to the first floor. Google 'Fabrisol' and you will find they have a swanky showroom in the Mijas area.

It seems Sr. Jose and his men have really got their fingers out!

At Last!!!

Sandra, I do see a unit in a terrace in photos from Feb on SMD website. Now I dont know if that is a town house or just a piece of kit randomly left there, or whether it is a genuine condensing unit or aircondition related.  So you are definitely not hallucinating. I definitely cant see a kitchen van in any of the photos.  P.S. No matter where the van has gone to - If it is a "swanky" kitchen showroom - may be there is still hope we will get good quality kitchens.

I do recall clearly asking Jose whether the airconditioning will be unit based or central based. And the foreman showed me how the whole unit is built into the ceiling in one room and all you see is vents in each room.  I know that is how central airconditioning works. What we did not discuss is whether this applies to all the blocks, or all types of housing, i.e. apartments and townhouses.

I can't speak for the Town Houses, but I believe all the apartments will have condensing units on the terraces/balcony.  The one for our apartment (Block 4) was in place at least 18 months ago.  The vents are discreet and high up the walls.  I have some old photos which I will post on the shared photos.  It will give you some idea what they look like.

I've uploaded two photos (dated 16 March 2007) which were taken in November 2005.  You can just see the vent above the door on the right hand wall.

Sandra was correct about the condensing units then. They will be bellowing out hot air and will be so noisy. It is not somewhere you could sit and have a quiet moment, would you ?

I need to add a view here.

I live in spain: yes its hot (and thats why we buy here instead of in Bognor) and it is very common to have your aircon on the terrace as there just isnt anywhere else to put them!!!!. The reality of life here in sunny Spain is that most new aircon units are not noisy, its only the air from inside your place thats pumping out so keep it clean and smell free inside and its not then pumping out filth!!!!

We are not talking about Burger King aircon units being situated on our terraces, its our air onto our terraces when we chose to run the units and pump that air.  When you are on the terrace I think you will rarely waste your electricity bill by turning on the aircon inside to keep it cool when you are outside.

I dont mean to sound flippant, but honestly guys, this aircon/terace issue really isnt such a big deal once you are here and enjoying the sun. Disagree or trust me on it :-)

Hi Everybody,

My P.C. has been in for repairs so I've been off-line for a week or so.

Thank you condesa and Captain007 for the information and photographs re.the air-con vents and condensor. The type and positioning of the vents are  what and where we were told they would be, which is a great relief, but the condensor's position is still a bitter disappointment.

Re. Tom's post about the way we might use the aircon. Sorry to disagree Tom but not all occupants of the apartment will always use either the terrace or the apartment. Picture this if you can :-

Mum and dad sitting having a glass of wine on the terrace and the two kids watching T.V. or playing video games indoors.

If the condensor is hot and noisy then one way or the other some-one at some-time will be disturbed by it, that is why it would have be better sited on the roof.

Apart from all the above, we were told the units would be on the roof. Another lie by the sales team!!

Tom, did you manage to get on site during your March visit?

Has anyone taken any internal measurements, particularly the living/dining room? We were told it was 26m2, but do not have the actual dimensions.

Sandra Hi

We will wave to each other from our balconies, large glass of wine in hand and compare aircon impressions later this year

I've not managed to get down there for a wee while - I am there w/c 7th May and will pass the site maybe five times that week as I am up and down from my office in Marbella and Malaga Airport several times that week so I will pop in and make sure the pesky workers are flat out. What block are you? I will get a photo of yours if I can and post it.

Tom
