Massive thanks to Barry for a very clear informative update, and for the wonderful photographs of our new (temporary) clubhouse. I never doubted how good this would look. Also while I'm here a big thank for yourself and everyone who's involved in THE BEST golf society in Spain. All your efforts are very much appreciated.
See you all soon,
Frank

The pro shop was emptied on tuesday and all the fittings moved to the club house. The staff are currently sitting on a temp table in the shop waiting for the fittings to be refitted in the club house before closing shop and moving up. The outside painting has been finished and they are now busy on the inside and the outside terrace areas. As normal in Spain the opening date varies depending on who you ask, somewhere between the 7th and 15th seems to be the latest guess but I would expect this tro be subject to change. The normal thing would be that one day you will go to the shop to book in to find it shut, then youi'll know the club house is open, planning seems to be a complete unknown out here. :-)

Just one photo this week as workers have been on site all weekend.
Results and news at www.cdagolf.com
Visit us every week for an update.
By the way, the market was good last night and the pub crawl was in place. La Cata can't deal with a full house - it took 2 hours for a bocadillo and a couple of drinks! Customers were getting up and walking away.

Hi
Neither Ham or I play golf. I am sure we will get round to it one day but I have to say that the club house does look good. Much better than I thought it would be
Hope all of you golfers out there enjoy it as I know it has been a long wait

Many Thanks for the update and the photos, its nice that at least one of the available web site covering topics on CdA is keeping us informed of this vital development and not just information on a local bar on the resort as one of the web site seems to be doing, (Golfer or not) this development I would think is of interest to most and a benefit to all.
Once they started building I was always optimistic from the out set that this temp club house would come good, yet ive got to say that it so far exceeds my expectations.

The Club House is a Green House! It will not be practical, it will be far too small! The problem is once it's there you'll wait long enough for a half decent one. Sadly it will become the norm and acceptable for far too long a period. Not a good idea in my opinion.

It is not always the case that something is better than nothing. As for thanking the banks, I don't think so. Shame on the banks for being so narrow minded and utilising a Green House for something it is totally unsuited for. A modicum of common sense would tell you to construct a purpose built Club House predesigned to be expanded upon as the resort goes from strength to strength. This would encourage professional tournaments, in turn creating greater interest amongst other commercial outlets and surprisingly enough would be buyers. This current offering may stir some interest from the likes of Alan Titchmarsh or the Beechgrove Garden.

some people are never happy. It is clearly better than we had which was nothing. We will now have changing facilities, showers and a bar and you claim this is a greenhouse and not better than our current situation. You haven't even seen the finished article yet you are still moaning and twisting. It is not what I wanted either but my understanding as a financial advisor is that we are lucky that they have done what they have. The resort has come on leaps an bounds in the last 6 months but you still choose to moan. Banks don't typically invest millions of pounds on clubhouses especially with their current struggles. You will no doubt disagree with me but then do I care? you bet your life I don't.

My post is not meant as a moan it is quite simply an observation and an opinion I quite stupidly thought I was entitled to. I do not get the relevance of your opinion as a financial advisor, what relevance does this have to the debate. In fact your owning up to being a financial advisor simply detracts from the debate. Look at the state the world is in solely due to advisers within the financial institutions. The banks wish to offload their property portfolio at the earliest possible opportunity, they will only do this if they attract inward investment. The construction of a Green House in the guys of a Club House highlights the train of thought of the financial boffins within these banks and again gives us a better picture of why the world is in such a mess. The banks do not require a multi-million pound budget just a bit of forward thinking, as I suggest a small purposely built hostelry designed with expansion in mind. You did get one thing correct, I certainly do not agree with you, however I will not be derogatory towards you simply because you offer a different opinion to myself. I may even buy you a pint as you queue for ages at the shower and I queue at the bar.

I'll never say no to a pint :) can't be bothered to argue so we can agree to disagree on the clubhouse. You are of course entitled to your opinion.
You are however talking rubbish about my industry. Blaming advisors solely. We advise on products, we do not make the stupid decisions on policy and product structure.
Toodles.
