Hi,
Can anyone tell me which internet suppliers will offer services to DV?
I tried on Vodafone website but it said the address could not be supplied.
I'm looking to get this set up as soon as possible.
Thanks

Hi,
Once your landline is connected there are a number of companies who will offer internet services. They are all about the same price
Try Direct Telecom who will take over your line from Telephonica
Regards
Michael

I couldn't find anybody able to put a line in. I tried on the telefonica website but it would not find the address on their availability checker. Can we get landlines in dv and can it be done online, I'd like to get it setup before we arrive if possible.

You can do this online at www.movistar.es - you'll need to have basic spanish at least.
Telefonicainenglish are nothing to do with Movistar - you should be aware of that. Most companies here use the Movistar (formally Telefonica) infrastructure and we have found that Movistar is by far (from our experience) the best provider and when we have had any problem and called them (in english) they have attended to it promptly (only on two occasions).
If you are unable to do this online yourself, you can just go to their shop in Sabinillas and take out the contract (about €20 pm with calls to national landlines included) and they will usually contact you within a day or two to install. You should have a spanish mobile for them to call.
Edited to say that, personally, I would do this while you are here - so the technician can contact you without problem. If you do this online and there is noone here available to let them in, etc., then you'll only confuse matters and possibly cause further delays.

I tried on the movistar.es site but there is a postcode checker and I enter the DV postcode (I've tried 29691 and 29692) and it brings up a list of addresses but I cannot see duquesa village, only duquesa golf, calle duquesa, Kristina etc. Would it come under another name? (Obviously I looked for urb el hacho duquesa village and anything with village in the name.

I've just tried it myself and Urbanizacion Duquesa Village comes up when you enter Duquesa Village and put the code 29692 (and obviously selecting Malaga province) and validate the address.
www.movistar.es/particulares/Privada/CompraQx
(Not sure if link will work)
Edited to say: link just takes you to the place where you enter the details - if you enter Duquesa Village and a number (your block number only) and then the post code it will bring up Urb. DV, where you can then enter 'otra finca' to put in your full apartment details.

Jo, I don't think you'll have much success visiting Movistar in Sabinillas (opposite the church on the left of the road, just down from taxi rank). The shops are really for sales rather than support.
You should call 1004 and, so soon as you hear a pause in the recorded message, say "Ingles" - you may have to say it a couple of times, but you will eventually be put through to an English speaking operator, who you can then report the problem to.
Obviousy, if you speak Spanish you won't need to do that, so just dial 1004 and follow the automated instructions!!

Ooops! I'm really sorry, but I'm not sure of the number to call from an international number. You can try it, but I would think that there may be a prefix to the 1004. Do you know anyone in DV who you can ask to use their phone? Or even the guard at the gate? Or, in that case (unless somebody else is able to help) maybe then ask in the shop if they can call for you (or at least tell you the number to call from an overseas number).
