We had downloaded the forms, filled them in and they checked what was due and issued us with stickers. We then went across the road to the bank and paid it. One set per owner not property.

Can anybody shed any light on how much tax we are supposed to pay.
We are using spanishtaxforms.co.uk who calculated our tax on a purchase price of 165000 euros as 108.90 eoros each, however in previous years our solicitor calculated the tax as 48.71 euros each, quite a big difference.
Just wondered what everyone else is paying.
Thanks

No hesitation there get back to your solicitor ASAP, god 48 euros each if he can get away with paying that well good on you two. The second figure seems about correct to what we paid last year, but there is that many forms to sort out in Spain. Our bank now does all the work for us, we just deposit money in Aguilas and the Spanish Tax man takes it out along with the rest !!. The only good thing is it is a fraction of what we pay in the UK (apart from Electric). Anyway somebody will be reading this who will correct me & let you know the correct amount,
Good luck.

Thanks for that. Don't think we can win either way as our solicitor will charge four times more than spanishtaxforms to sort it out.
A major problem seems to be finding out what the cadestral value is. I don't think we've ever had a council tax bill.

It took us a long time to dicover this out so be carefull eh.

We've owned since October 2008, so it's all a bit worrying. We didn't even have a post box till this summer. The only correspondence we've had seems to be for rubbish collection.

Well Sue, lets hope that someone like Dominic, Ray, Sean or Richard read this and let you know the best way to get hold of the local Tax Office because Them 4 Gents are very very wise beleive me. You should have lots of demands floating around for a while now I know it is a worry but the sooner you look into this the better. Once you find out what you have to Pay you can get all these paid DD from your Spanish bank, it takes all the worry out of the demands through the Post.
Really hope you get sorted out soon Sue. Come on Lads chip in please.

Hi
Tax calculated at 24% of 1.1% valor catastral , which was below sale prices but possibly is now around sale price or above.I am under the impression that the 24% is set to increase.Valor catastral is shown on IBI invoices.

Hi
This can be obtained from the Municipal offices in Pulpi,if they are still not available do an estimated calculation . Reduce the original sale price by 25% to 30% then it is 24% of 1.1% of estimated valor catastral pay at tax office in Huercal Obera stating that this is an estimated amount and hopefully by next year the correct amounts will be at hand.Or leave it till you get your firt IBI demand from Pulpi and pay arrears and a little added tax then.
regards
Keith

Hola,
Our experience of taxes -
Just by luck Dominic found our IBI demand in the post boxes and we took this to our bank to pay. We only just managed to catch the final date before interest was going to be added and late payment fees. This was paid no problem at the bank and our friend Sonsoles at Catalunya Caixa (who speaks perfect english) advised us to set up a DD for future demands, which we did. Sonso then asked us if we are paying our Basura (Refuse collection) which we wern't. She then rang Pulpi and enquired how much Basura we owed. 5 mins later Pulpi sent an email with our outstanding basura to Sonso. This went back to when we signed for the house. She said better do it now as they will catch up eventually. We paid another chunk of euros and set up a dd for this as well. Heard nothing about non resident tax and this is quite worrying as they have the power to freeze bank accounts if not paid. I am sure we will hear something soon.........
Next uncertainty is electric which is another long drawn out saga having been to Vera (Endesa) twice and eventually Patricia done it over the phone, still not 100% sure if it's sorted, but am sure we'll find out soon. Good job we've plenty of candles.............
Hope you all have a good Christmas and a prosperous healthy New Year.
Best regards,
Ray & Ann

We had the same problem at the beginning of this year we paid one bill which opened the flood gates for all the bills which had not been paid since signing for the house. We thought we were the only people who had not paid these bills. Everyone needs to be aware they will not get away with not paying them because once you have paid one bill you will get every bill you have not paid with all the extra fees added on, it was an expensive year paying out for all the bills not paid. Our bank were very helpful and the reason for us not getting the bills was due them having the wrong address for us. I think it would be worth having a chat with Patricia if you have not paid any bills since moving in.
Merry Christmas and all the best to everyone for 2013

Likewise, we found our IBI bill for 2012 which was dated July hidden in the pile of junkmail in our letterbox.
When our lawyer in Aguilas went to pay it we got hit with Basura and IBI bills plus interest from mid 2009, around 800 Euros in total - ouch!
Luckliy we got a nice 5 figure capital allowance claim cheque from HMRC which more than makes up for it.
