I've seen it mentioned a couple of times that Condado has a short season - why is this? The Murcia region is reported to have about 300 sunny days a year, which does not equate to a short season. Can anyone explain these comments? Thnaks.

Heated pools would help!!!! We have lived here or a year and as a resident we find it cooler in winter but compared to UK its lovely. We had a surprisingly wet fortnight in October but otherwise the winter was pleasant...my girls were in pool every month but the pools are like plunge pools October- April which as a tourist would put families off...hope this helps, Denise

People are referring to when its busy for people as a business which really is when the kids are off making it a short season, the rest of the time there are people there but not in the numbers there are in July and August. Also the Spanish get the month of August off again increasing numbers

There are other times its busy generally the bank holidays, Easter and Whitsun, again because the kids are off

But you cant run a business here subject to visitors, unless you are sensible enough to pay your bills in the 6 months and expect nothing the other 6 months! The bigger picture must be looked at...ie attracting people from surrounding areas to the golf or restaurants. Heated pools would give us a longer season which would help as well. Why rely only on families in school holidays?? We have a wonderful, clean, safe resort...perhaps we could have a Friday morning meeting/ breakfast for business owners and anyone else interested to brainstorm ideas to attract more holiday makers/ winter residents and permanent residents???

Thanks for the information. I had some crazy idea that a short season meant the sun strangely avoided this part of Spain for many months of the year, lol :)

I guess heated pools is in the hands of the owners, if people are prepared to pay for it then the pools can be heated. I don't suppose there is an indoor pool on site is there?

No no indor pool. A spa would attract people for spa breaks there's the perfect building that was the sales offices that would bring in couples. The men for golf and the women for spa and treatments. How busy does the golf get? I have no idea as we are not golfers

but golfing holidays would do well here especially if there were good things for spouses.
My family (not me though!) are in the pool at the moment but I'd love the pools to be heated we would come more often if it meant we could all swim together but I just can't face an ice dip!
In quiet season if it was me and I had a restaurant I would run some cooking courses attracting people into the resort - I have done cooking classes and they were lovely. I did Indian, Thai and Arabic and it was a lovely social thing to do and I met some great people. I'd love to do a cupcake decorating course maybe the Condado club could run something like that in the games room when it's quiet. Lots of things that could be done. Could work with wine suppliers and do a wine tasting course too.

Lots of things to bring more people in but needs to be planned and see if there are companies who would advertise it and get people booked to attend. It's so good that people are coming up with ideas to help everyone - makes for a good community - long may this continue

Hi,

Solar thermal would work to heat the pools. One off cost with minimal maintenance every couple of years!

We need more to keep the kids occupied as well.

If someone came up with a definitive costing of pool heating and running costs for all pools on the resort then maybe it could be considered by the presidents and ML?

Please do not come back with heating just a few of the pools because that would not work as it would give financial advantages to residents who rented out apartments on heated pool gardens or penthouses!

This would cause conflict which needs to be avoided..

"plunge pools October- April"  ??????????????????

I thought they were plunge pools all year round, even in August we found them c-c-c-c-old.  Only difference was in summer you don't actually mind as you need to cool off.

When we are back next month we are planning to use the local indoor pools for the wee one, anyone have experience/recommendations?
