We want to put up  corner unit ( for shower gel, shampoo etc ) in the shower cubicle in the main bathroom - it SHOULD be okay as the water pipes shouldnt be anywhere near the corner - but as this is Spain............................ has anyone else done this with no problems??

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Debbie

I do not recommend making holes in the marble, it is very hard, there are other systems such as cupping or something that hangs on the screen that you can find in stores decoration.

Hi Luis,

Thnks for your reply - we did buy one of the ones with suction cups but it keeps falling off!! and hanging ones are no good as we have a  cubicle with sliding doors - oh well, maybe time for waterproof no-more-nails to glue on the suction cup one!!!

The previous owners of our apartment had drilled plenty of holes in the bathroom tiles, including a corner unit in the shower similar to what you mentioned. I agree with Luis that it is pretty difficult to drill the marble and you need a decent drill/bit set as the guy who did ours left plenty of small cracks around the holes where they obviously used amateurs to do the job.

Hi there,

Two things - best to buy a metal detector if you think you are anywhere near pipes and check that.

Secondly - if possible drill into the joint between the tiles which is actually quite easy if you have a good Durium-tipped drill [and of course if the spacing suits]

Hope that's a help.

Tom.
