FAULTY TEKA FRIDGEFREEZER

We along with many others bought the Teka Fridgefreezer when we completed on the apartment in 2008.

The fridge compartment is now working overtime and no matter what temperature is set it goes to zero within a few hours and is now freezing the food.  Thank goodness beer has a lower freezing point.  I have googled this and it appears to be a common problem which may be terminal. 

Has anyone on Condado had a similar problem, and if so has it been possible to repair the fridge or is it better to buy a new one?

We had the same problem with our Teka and we were told that it is cheaper to buy a new one, as it is probably the control card and these are very expensive and there is no guarantee of the problem not recurring.

We were also told that if you get three yrs out of a fridge freezer in Spain you have done well!

We ended up buying new one from Mediamart in Cartegena and now leave it on when we are not there. We just turn it off when we are not there over the winter as we were also told they don't like being turned off and on regularly.

We also took the 5 yr warranty with Mediamart awhich was €47

I had the same problem but Andy of AES actually explained that there was a much easier thing to try first and that was because them was a problem of excessive ice on the fans and by doing a complete defrost, at least 24 hours, this solved th problem in both units so try this first
