Last year while on holiday on CDA I remember funds being raised for a voluntary medical emergency team made up of interssted residents. A sad incident on one of the Jardines earlier today brought home the need for this kind of service. Please can one of the CDA stalwarts let me know whether this ever got off the ground and if so how to we contact the team in an emergency. Can you also let me know if any more funraising events are planned. Thanks

I was approached by the team whilst in Condado Club on Tuesday and told they are still raising funds and are there each Tuesday evening, so we should all try to support them.
This is the URL for them http://cprcondado.com/

I believe it costs a lot of money and they have raised about 6000 Euro. The course itself is very expensive and only those registered with Murcia can do this course....Spanish bureaucracy! There are a few individuals raising this money....maybe it's time the rest of us lent a hand. None of us knows what is around the corner. It takes approximately 20 minutes for an ambulance to get to us....that 20 minutes could be deadly for a heart attack or stroke patient. I heard the ambulance leaving Condado yesterday and it was the first time I have heard one in my visits here! It would be nice to see businesses other than the Clover stepping up to the mark and doing a bit of fundraising..when the CPR team is in place they will be keen enough to use it for their customers. Rant over!!!!

Can anyone tell me if there is a defibrillator on site as this would be a priority for saving life if not then Milenium should really be looking at getting one on site ideally in the Al Kazar where everyone can have access.

Not sure about spanish rules but most defibs in public places in uk can be used by any members of the public which is vital in saving lives and a defib somewhere in the resort would be a great idea so I hope that eevryone helps in the fundraising as you never know when it might be one of yours that require it.

Surely I am not the only one to be thinking this.....
The considerable efforts of a few in relation to fundraising for this vital piece of equipment has not gone unnoticed and must be applauded. However, in a year when broadband has been included within community fees (not that I am complaining about that) is it not reasonable to at least to suggest that the community fees year on year include a sum for such vital life saving equipment (together with annual training) to be stationed at either end of the resort.
I apologise in advance if I am missing something but I for one would be happy to give up Broadband (and pay for it myself) or pay a little extra to ensure this is in place.
Just a thought.

Well said!!!
Can I also say if anyone has any queries about CPR...there is a Facebook page.......Codado Response.....to answer all your queries!!
i only heard this evening what the sad incident was in the Jardines, I had assumed it was heart/ stroke related....it is imperative that any loose tile on steps are reported immediately to ML!!!

We live in a rural village in Scotland and all the surrounding villages are now fund raising to get a de-fib of thier own put in a convenient place accessible to all and it is saving life's already. The great thing about them is they are so easy to operate after very little training.I agree with earlier post that pressure should be put on Mileniun to proved this vital equipment and pay for the training on it.

The biggest problem here in Spain is, of course, that the trainers must be trained and registered with Murcia health service or something similar....which is of course far more expensive! There is no point in a de fib etc being bought until the volunteers are trained....just typical Spain!

Then lets pay for them to be trained. Lets pay for de fibs and any other medical supplies. Lets pay for the running costs and equiping of vehicles (maybe even to paramedic standards). With the recent sale of empty Jardines properties. The proposed sell off of empties on Naranjos, and Penthouses 9 - 16. Followed by Penthouses 1 - 9, the place will be full. Approx 3,500 properties each generating 1 or 2 euro per month for this purpose ONLY??????
Accidents - some extremely serious can happen to anyone. So too can medical conditions (Stroke, heart attack to name the most common). If it was YOUR son/daughter, brother/sister mother/father laying there in dire need. Would you be glad you had broadband????? You NEVER KNOW when you may need the services of someone qualified and equiped. So lets not MOAN as some will. Lets JUST DO IT!!!!! The first few minutes of any serious accident/stroke/heart attack is vital. Do you want to wait for the Ambulance from Alhama/Murcia?
Idealy for me. We fund it.....but we never have to use it.
I think Neil and Lyn of The Clover have done a FANTASTIC job. Both in raising funds and raising awareness of the need. Time we all took the responsibility for ourselves now. We need to fund the equipment, and the training. Maybe even pay someone full time if funds allow.

I totally agree with the other posts Condado has grown since the early days and with such large numbers visiting we NEED this vital service and the owners on Condado need to contribute to make sure that no matter what we at least have the basics for saving life, for every minute waiting on a paramedic we lose 10% chance of survival so 20 minutes for a Ambulance tells you everything. COME ON OWNERS SUPPORT THIS!!!!!

Yes very we'll said, Right here we go. I am willing to put € towards an External cardaid defibrillator unit,or I can buy one from the UK with 2 sets of pads and an instruction book as a contribution towards this project, if this is acceptable Lets put our heads together and get whoever to be trained get them trained. I am over on the 3rd of October why don't we organise a meeting in the Clover say on the 4th October This needs to happen, god forbid it's never used, but it's just that knowing its there, maybe one in the Alkazar and one outside the club Sorry to come across a bit strong, but I really believe in this, I do not live on CDA, but I visit nearly every month I have my Apt in J2 I did not know that Neil had a fund raiser going on fair play to him Regards Des

Well said Des, will back you on this!! The main problem is the cost of training volunteers...they cannot be trained by anyone not licensed/ authorised by Murcia health services or whatever they are. Needless to say this is far more expensive!! We should all nag and ask the other businesses what they are doing to raise funds....or are they only willing to take our money but not help the resort and their customers???

I am also out on the 4th October and I Am willing to meet as I know being a firefighter how important these things are and if Neil has already got things going maybe he can direct things and we can get something positive started as we have a great community and a great Resort .
