Just wanted to say what a great couple of weeks at Condado! Even the thunderstorm/moonsoon last Monday was awesome!
Really enjoyed the ladies golf day which Cath organised, absolutely brilliant, especially for me being a non-golfer! The putting competition for us non-ladies was great, and loads turned up for that. Also, the evening meal at Los Balcones was superb! They have only been open since April, and they are literally 4 minutes drive from Condado. If you're feeling energetic you can cycle there, we walked back from there and it took us about 50 minutes, the walk there took longer but that's because hubby decided we needed the exercise and took us on a completely different route lasting about two and a half hours!
The food and service with the exception of La Cata was great, I think we were just unlucky there listening to others raving about them so hopefully our next visit will be better, but we were all tired after our early morning flight, and as it was the first time for my Mum without my Dad who we lost in May we decided to just pay up and leave rather than try and talk to the manager about the appalling service by our waitress and the lukewarm food that was only just edible.
Really enjoyed the food and service at the Bulgarian, you can't fault them, and also Big G's, the food and service was excellent. Didn't get a chance to try the french restaurant, but have heard great things about them, so hopefully next year.
Enjoyed the quiz night at the Condado Club and was even talked into playing bingo later on in the week; I didn't realise how serious people take it, you wouldn't dare speak whilst it was going on and that's very difficult for the likes of me!
I would thoroughly recommend the guided walks at the Sierra Espuna, we went on last Monday for the first one of the year, and it was great, well worth 12 euros which also included a four course lunch at the Hotel Mariposa who organise all the activities. We hope to go quad biking when we come back next year, and I quite fancy the river rafting as well!
For those who like the beach you're really spoilt for choice, we love Mazarron going towards Bolneuvo, Isla Plana and Percheles which we discovered has a bar right at the top of the hill, bit of a rocky climb but well worth it for the fantastic views . At Isla Plana we discovered a lovely restaurant off the blue roundabout where the menu del dia was 8 euros for either a four course spanish or english meal or a combination of both. We ate there twice and the food was excellent as well as the banter with the spanish owner/chef and the english chef. I can't remember the name at the moment but it's on the terrace above the Royal Pub.
Hubby even enjoyed watching Crystal Palace beat Sunderland in the Clover surrounded by Sunderland fans! Unfortunately he wasn't so lucky on Saturday when Manchester United beat them, but it was only 2-0 so not all bad!
All in all a fantastic holiday, now just have to wait until next year!
