He's still around, he took me to and from Alicante airport last week to Condado, he was well cheap as well, will certainly be using him more often

Just be aware that if you have an accident who do you get your compensation from if you are hospitalised or have your holiday ruined. Also who covers you for loss of earnings ??
Dont do what our friends in Puerta Benus did. It cost them a fortune in lossed earnings etc. I dont think it is worth the risk & dont think it cannot happen to you because it just might

I advised against it and I am not a friend of any taxi company on Condado though I would consider one an aquaintance. My advise against it was because a friend in Costa del Sol did just that & lost out on wages etc.
If your "friend" is a genuine friend then I am sure they will happily cover your loss of wages etc, my friend Melanie`s so called friend didnt
As a non driver I wonder how the "friend`s" no claims would go or do they not have no claims bonuses in Spain. Just a thought.

Ib2012.....well said!! Here is a thought perhaps if taxis were cheaper on site then more people would use them and would be less likely to hesitate doing so on a regular basis. Taxi companies charge rip off prices quite frankly particularly if you are travelling by yourself whereas if there is a few of you then the cost is spread amongst the group.
