Just to reiterate, no one on this thread as far as I can see has any issue with security. The system should be brilliant for residents. What I asked for was clarity on how this would work for non residents, their friends and family and renters. There was no communication about the process and Milleniun have not responded re what exactly security will do when someone turns up at the gate with a hired car. I'm assuming this is because this hasn't been thought through properly! I could be wrong. Before the swipe cards were in place you just gave security your apartment number and owners name. If someone can provide both of these security questions and they can be checked against a database then great I will be happy to pop into Mileniun at some point to register my hired car. If on the other hand you just have to flash your drivers license or passport then anyone will be able to come in. Will security take a note of the registration and check the car when leaving if it hasn't been registered? Will they only let you in once with a car that has not been registered? Lots of questions. In my world it's called a documented and agreed process. Liz

Waddle, that's a really good idea but won't work for non owners as renters / visitors phone numbers will not be registered :o)

"Do we give an outside contractor (Security) all out personal details about who owns and who doesn't??"
We have already given an outside contrcator ( Mileniun ) these details, if we are supposed to trust them with the infromation then why not a worldwide and well know security firm? Security have a PC in the gatehouse so why should they not update the system? The pc at the gate and the one ML use in the office to register the access cards, and registration numbers are linked so assume it should be possible. That way when an owner turns up at the gate in a hire car they could show ID and it could all be done in one go

Hi,are there any garden presidents reading this thread? It seems to me an issue like this regarding security and access could maybe be discussed with ML? I agree totally that the plate reader is potentially a plus, but also why not have the swipe as a back up? Or at the very least have a period of say three months with both working to ensure the card reader can cope? That would get us over the busy period. Can the concerns not be conveyed to ML via the correct channels? J

Hi Jaydee
I am presuming that the issue relating to the change over was voted for by our garden presedents.
If I am correct the I personnaly would have prefered to be notified so I could have voiced my opinion.
I am all for improving security but would have prefered that both systems were allowed to run along side each other for a period to ensure all went well

Response below from milleniun:
The way security may know who is using your apartment is if you send us an email indicating the guests’ name and the period of their stay. This information will be forwarded to the security before the guests´arrival.
I've asked if they intended to communicate this to owners. Can you imagine the chaos at security if owners or visitors haven't done this. Or perhaps security will just wave everyone through as they have a tendency to do just now!
Hopefully everyone will get a proper documented procedure from milleniun soon.

If you are renting out your apartment this would be interesting information, who stays in your apartment and when! It would make interesting reading for our L1 who works in the hacienda! Jan, the l3 presidnets are not involved in these decisions...it is solely the work of our 5 L2s and our L1, who works in the hacienda, did I mention that, lol?? Me a cynic?? “Every ounce of my cynicism is supported by historical precedent.”
