Gas Problems

Hi, Anyone shine any light on our recent situation?  We pay our Gas by Direct Debit from La Caixa bank - this week, two days before we had tenants in the gas was cut off! A note stating this had been put through the door 'due to non payment!' - but there are sufficient funds in the account.

We are over in Roda in a week so we are obviously we intend to pay a visit to the bank and the gas company - just wondered if anyone had suffered the same problem?

Utility companies are both insufferable and a law onto themselves but check your bank account to ensure dd was honoured.
I assume it is not because you have not had your gas epuipment 5 year check which has been talked about on here.

There is a possibility that they have cut the incorrect meter or that you have never had the correct meter, some apartments on Phase 1 certainly were incorrectly linked up.

You may need to check out your feed with the gas company, can your onsite agent not check for you?

Hi, Thanks for coming back to me with that info - as usual with Spain, nothing is simple!  We have had our Safety Check - so I will get to the bottom of it.  But as you infer - it's probably just incompetence, as usual!

May not necessarily be incompetance. Have you ever looked in the gas and electricity cupboards?
Nothing is labelled clearly, and trying to work out who's meter is whose is a nightmare.

Our friends electricity got cut off a while back and it was actually easy to see why they'd pulled the wrong fuse as it looked as though their meter went to apartment D when it in fact belonged to apt A - and vice versa.

At least Iberdrola made an attempt at labelling the meters, but in our block the gas meters aren't even labelled!

Also, were you originally with Banco de Valencia and get transferred to La Caixa?
I know that some DD's have bounced recently for community fees - as they have with the transfer from Lloyds to Sabadell.
