A further resort has been released- El Mirador de Alhama.  It is on a raised area at the opposite side of the golf course from Jadines and about 700 metres from the club house and not too far from the Penthouses   The properties are the same as Jardines but will have solar panels. The blurb I have read says that some of the gardens will be larger than the Jadines gardens but will have great views of the golf course and of the mountains. Apparently Polaris have sold over 1,000 properties on Condados in a matter of weeks. It certainly makes you realise just how big this resort will be. Another piece  I read said that this resort will be only second to Murcia city in size in the region. Does anyone have any up to date photo's? On some sites they give quite a lot of information about the layout of the apartments but no where have I seen any sizes of rooms etc- has anyone else? All this good weather makes you want to be on holiday and in your own place doesnt it?

Out there last week, got some photos which I'll try to put on tonight, looks like the've started to dig out the founds. Didn't here about the new ones till I got back, bit concerned about the solar panels you mention, are they going to be on Jardines as I've got a 2 bed with the roof terrace these will take up alot of the terrace thus less space for us.

WE didnt hear any mention of solar panels on Jardines. Hadnt thought of the space factor and as you say they'd affect that roof terrace. Will try to go back to where  I saw the information and have another look. Maybe they will make El Mirador a bit more expensive although the position sounds good- where Cortijos was originally planned to be.  However we like where we have chosen although it is hard to get a perspective on things from a plan or drawing.

Hello, the solar panels are only on the Mirador phase and future phases - earlier phases (jardines and naranjos will not be affected). The roof solarium will be sectioned off and so the usable space (for roof and terrace )will be reduced to 38m from 55m. The position of these is still very good - the highest point on the project but I think that makes a big difference. I would be tempted by the ground floors or if you need a solarium - pick up one of the last ones on previous phases.

The change is due to new laws regarding energy efficiency. regarding room sizes - you only get a feel by going to the show apartments and asking the sales staff or agent for a comparision. Polaris bedroom sizes are all pretty standard and are a good double size with fitted wardrobes.  These properties arent huge but are very well designed indeed and should be comfortable enough - certainly for a holiday home.

Thanks jamie, I managed to find another site which had some further pictures/design layouts so could see better how the roof terrace is divided with two panels behind a barrier. My husband has actually said that it is such a good idea, although I'm still keen on having the larger roof terrace- but can see what a saving there may be on heating, lights.  El Mirador apartments will have great views and the positioning is good too. I couldnt really tell but it looks as though there wont be quite so many gardens but one blurb I read said that some of the gardens would by bigger than Jardines but I wasn't sure if that meant the ground floor apartments could have bigger gardens  or if each Mirador garden would be bigger. Anyway, it shouldn't matter to me because we've bought a Jardines- except every tiny bit of news makes it all seem more real!!. I wouldnt be surprised if my husband decided it was such a good idea we should have one. I also saw elsewhere that you can have the option of dishwasher and washing machine if you have 1 of these fitted on the roof terrace or in the graden (3 bed). It certainly would be getting a bit industrial up there with all that!

We went to La Torre and viewed a penthouse apartment, that was lovely and as you say perfectly adequate as a holiday home or maybe as a permanent residence for a couple. This apartment had bunkbeds in the second bedroom so it was hard to get a prespective on the width of the room for two singles but the plan does show two singles in the second bedroom of the Jardines apartments- and the bonus is fitted wardrobes.

The plans for these apartments are now on the official Polaris web site, not sure they are for me, I'm quite happy with the larger roof terrace on Jardines. Just come back from La Torre myself, stayed in a townhouse. Quite happy with the 2nd bedroom, although not massive there was room for 2 twin beds and a bedside cabinet with built in wardrobes. As long as our 1st floor apartment is the same it will be good enough for us.

18 months and counting

Mike

Just for your information, Polaris World cleams several aspects about El Mirador that seems not to be true. El Mirador is not situated at the highest point in Condado the Alhama. If you study Google Earth at latitue (37 deg, 44 min., 29 sec) longitude (1 deg, 21 min. 51 sec.) you can see that the terrain varies between 210 and 215 m above sea level.
The highest point is located at the southern most position of the resort where Jardines the Alhama will be located at heighs between 210 and 235 m. The socalled penthouse Los Naranjos will be at 220 m.

Furthermore, El Valle will not be located right next to the golf course as the nearest point will be approximately 100 m from the golf course and most of the apartments will be several hundred metres away.

Claus - thanks for providing the Googleearth co-ordinates for Condado.  I have looked at Google Earth a few times without having a real sense of the exact location.

When you use Google earth, the coordinates of the pointer position are shown to the lower left. Here you can also see the height above sea level of that point.

I've had a look, thanks for the co-ordinates. Do you know how old this part of the map is? I was expecting to see the sales office then i looked at La Torre and it must be about 2 years old. Or there again is my google earth just out of date.

We've been on again and had better luck. I fact we've just 'driven' there. Although we agree with Mike- maps are probably a bit out of date. Could do with a web cam. We logged onto one when friends where on a cruise and actually saw them looking out to sea- then it blinked with the time delay and when it came back on they'd gone- we thought they were overboard!

Don't expect to see the latest updates of the properties on Google Earth, because images may be up to 3 years old ! One could expect that the great success Google has with this program would encourage them to upload new images more frequently, who knows ?

Below are the coordinates for :

Mar Menor latitute 37 deg. 44 '. 39 ''., longitude 0 h,  54 min. 54 sec.

Terrazas   latitute 37 deg. 47 '. 31 ''., longitude 0 h,  58 min. 28 sec.

La Torre    latitute 37 deg. 49 '. 24 ''., longitude 1 h,  00 min. 07 sec.

I am still searching the the other resorts, can anybody find them ?
