I was out there last week and we noticed that the cleaners were, in fact, not cleaning. I did not see the cleaners once the whole time we were there and the dirt and dust in the hallway outside the apartment was proof that they weren't doing anything. Why we are paying ridiculously high community fees for the service we are (not) receiving is beyond me. Although, we should be thankful that the cleaners have not done to us all what they did to a neighbour of ours a while back. The cleaners threw a bucket of water and cleaning fluids on the hallway floor most of which ended up under my neighbours door and ruined the floor in the apartment. Has anyone else faced any problems with the cleaners and getting AEA to address this?

Not noticed any problem but will watch out next week when I am there.
As for AEA I am not enchanted , and that's putting it mildly, with their lack of responsiveness to any requests i have made recently by phone or email.
Spoke with Manilvajl (jeff) yesterday and we are both out next week so will try and see AEa and our president , Gerardo. if only to say that the communications to members is non existent and needs to be improved. The minutes of the last meeting in March are still not posted on their web site.
regards

Hi
We were staying in our apartment in Bloque 10 for a few days at the end of March and there was so much concrete dust and mess outside our apartment which had not been cleaned. We had to go to the office in Duquesa Port and make a complaint. Later that day, I did notice the cleaners on the stairs leading to the apartment above us and they appear to have been having a 'food fight' as there was orange peel scattered all over the stairs. As far as I know the apartments above us were empty!!!! I do hope things improve. They seem to be taking advantage of the fact that there are not many people staying in the apartments yet. Another thing we had to mention was the fact that the lights around the path area outside our bloque were not on. We did meet some people surveying the pool and were told that it had a few holes and they were hoping to have it repaired and filled in about 4 weeks. Hope to get to know a few people when we next visit.

Hi
we were at our apartment in bloque 9 at the end of March, although we couldnt stay in it as there had been a problem with connecting the electricity. Like you the landings were dirty and an area on the ground floor where there is damp on the wall has not been dealt with. Also the lift button on our floor doesnt work. we are visiting again at the end of May and I will have to go to the AEA office then.

I was out there last week in March, first week of April. There was not much sign of the cleaners for the first week but they were very active in our block the second week and actually did a pretty good job clearing out all the dust and treating the tiles etc. We are in block 14. Maybe they are going round block by block giving it a good clean and then it gets looked after better after that. Can anyone in phase 1 comment? do your blocks get cleaned regularly?

Yes, in all honesty, we saw them (or heard them!) most days we were there in Block 10. We thought they cleaned pretty well - including sweeping all the mud dragged in by the tires in the car park!! Didn't really have any complaints from that side.
Ann2, (are you and John the couple I met in the car park, just before you left?) your complaint must have worked because the lights were turned on what must have been on the day you left!
Our concern whilst we were there was that the only place for your rubbish is down at the bottom of the development - most of the time we were putting it in the car and dropping it in the bins at the top of the road, at the junction. Are there plans to put more "basura" drops anywhere else in the development, does anyone know?

I agree Jan, we did the same with our rubbish last time we were over. I did see some new busura bins at the top of the site but they hadnt been installed, they were just amongst the bricks. They must be planning a lot more as clearly the ones at the bottom are insufficient.

Hi Jan
Yes, that was us. We had the same problem with our rubbish. I'm glad they've got the lights on around the pathway. Did you get your TV sorted out? We've still got to do that.
