Afternoon shedshifter
Main thing - don't even think about going for lower than 5.75 kw for the apartment.
We used to only have 3.3 kw at our house in Almoradi when we bought it and it was a pain!
Have 2 rings on the cooker going and turn the kettle on and pooft it trips!
And forget about having the air-con on with the cooker or kettle!
We have recently swapped to HC Energia Dual-Fuel tarrfif at Roda - so now have both our gas and electricity with them and there is a consderable saving on both. All electricity suppliers offer the same - including Iberdrola.
At our house in Almoradi we have swapped to Fenie Energia who are cheaper than Iberdrola - and we have this on a day/night tariff. Day time tariff slightly higher but the night time kw cost is low. Iberdrola standard rate is about 14c per kwh - we are paying 15.9c for day and 6.2c for night.
Great for us as we have our washer, dishwasher on timers to come on over night. Plus we only use the air-con at night in the bedroom. It has saved us quite a lot!
You could also consider swapping to a "Holiday" tarriff. The only company I know that used to do this was EoN.
No standing charge but you pay about double for your usage. However, I can't find it on their website any more.
I've also just checked on Iberdrola website - and they do a holiday home plan as well. Different basis - lower standing charge and lower rate on usage- provided you use electronic billing & DD. Might be worth investigating.
Hope this helps
