For the benefit of those that have yet done it.
Tips and hints. Take a list of everything you want to check so that you do not get distracted. The rep from Key Mare will be keen to get paperwork signed that was requested up front and to collect the money. - My husband sent me off to keep the rep occupied while he had a good look around and called them over to note down faults as and when he found them.
Apartments are clean but will be cleaned thoroughly prior to signing and all those bits (that apparently can go walkabout) will be put in after prior to completion.
Key Mare do not see it as a snagging visit but rather as a courtesy visit as we bought off plan. Make the most of it and note down anything that you are unhappy with. Theye will write it down too (in spanish) Once finished ask them to go around and show you again what they have written down (if you do not understand what they have actually written) and get a copy for your reference.
We had a good look around (hubby in the trade) the only thing he was hoping wouldn't fail snagging was the kichen worktop as they are granite and guess what there was a crack between the edge and the sink (narrowest point) and that will now all have to come out and be replaced. (bummer) Also couple of scratches on the doors and wardrobes, - another thing to look out for is the consumer unit (electric by the door) as they have removed blank panels which could pose a risk if children stick their hands in as this is live electrics. If you want more info post private reply. Compared to the new builds in this country we thought it was quite good. Hubby says take a torch to check the dark spots as no electric, such as tiles around bath room fittings and the toilet as they can crack quite easily (we had one in the bathroom)
Still it was great to finally get into our apartment for the first time - looking forward to using our balcony and a drip in the two lovely looking pools.
Grass is starting to grow, however one question we couldn't get answered (we only had 24 hours) was about the paths in the phase 1 area around the pool as they are still just concrete and we though they would tiled or block paved, if any one knows more please let us know? There appears to be block paving in the duplex zone.
