I would love to know how they are going to able to tell the difference between residents of Phase 1, and residents of phase 2. What about phase3 when that is finished. Will it then mean we have one small pool between nearly 200 apartments in phase 1.

Hi Eoin, If thats the case they will need to employ some pretty big bouncers at the gate of the phase 2 pool to keep me out. :-)
Realistically as all the Don Juan phases share the same site I suspect people will use whatever pool they like as it will be very difficult to police.
Regards, Andy

To clarify:
There are two pools in DJ I. One in front of block 10 (which ought to be labelled 9) and one in front of block 7.
Question:
If you have a private swimming pool at home, do you really need bouncers to get your neighbours out of it? We Dutch are often considered very rude, but we would draw the line there :)

Of course i was only joking about the bouncers.. However when the development was first designed there were supposed to 4 pools and 9 blocks in phase 1. Now there are 2 pools and 10 blocks! The developers then changed their minds and decided to build an extra 5 blocks directly next to the initial development. Whether people like it or not phases 1& 2 are integrated and share pathways and gardens etc and will become part of the same community. Phase 3 is a totally separate block and people their do not need to access or walk around phases 1&2 to get access to their block but share the same access roads. I suspect this block will also form the same common community. It is ridiculous to think that people in phase 2 will walk on the left hand side of the path and the chaps form phase 1 will walk on the right.
It is the developers design changes that have caused this issue

Hi Andy,
I totally agree with you , there is no way that we will not use the pool beside us, I dont care what the developer is trying to say , I dont expect my children to go far from my sight to go swimming and there is no way they will be allowed to walk miles to a pool when there is one beside us.

I think all of phase 1 and 2 should use any pool they whant,as people might whant to be with friends and familys in phase 2.I Just hope we all have keys to all pools. We should be making all of don juan a happy community for all bye irene/peter.

Hi All, I remember a conversation with Perla about this some time ago she said that all pools (2 in phase 1 and 1 in phase 2) will be for all residents of phase 1 & 2 only that the pool outside phase 2 will only come into use after phase 2 has completed. This to me makes sense!

Maybe we will all have tatoos in the back of our necks stating which phase we belong to? You know, a bit like the bishops in England?? (Or so I was taught by the dear Python bunch...)
Jokes aside, I'm with Eoin in this case since my wife and me have the apartment C in block 5 (ground floor) and will thus have 20 or so metres to walk to a DJ2 pool.
Yeah, I will definetly use the DJ1 pool situated in the other end of the premise...

I have no news about the future status of the communities and their pools, but....
They started cleaning the first one! The children bath is already operational as in that the pumps are working etc. This is the first step. Next step is getting approval of the Andalucian health department and then they can apply for the license.
It already looks much nicer and the chances go up that we wil be able to use them in spring!

It won't be salt water based. It would be more expensive in our case as we already employ daily maintenance people. The advantages of salt water installations are mainly for private pools.
The big questions are:
a) what will our future license say about opening hours and lifeguards
b) will the community be willing to heat one pool. It costs next to nothing to operate and add enormous value to your property (or rental income) but it's an investment which has to be decided upon.
And just to remind you: Christmas day was 35 degrees in the sun so that would have made a perfect swimming day if the water was heated. Otherwise it would be too cold as the night temperature is much lower so the water doesn't warm up enough during the day. This message was last edited by max! on 12/28/2007.

A question about the fencing around the pools if any one can help. I understand about the need to fence off the pool areas but it seems strange to put an additional fence only around the 'kiddy' pools. Young children would still be at risk near the larger pools and the fencing around the small one could effectively fence them in rather than out! Do we have to keep this fence? The lack of room around the pool is likely to mean that parents would be outside and somewhat defeats the object of making it safe.
It doesn't affect us as our children are older but I just wondered whether we had to keep it.

I think this matter was raised some time ago and I agree the fence around the small pools is pretty pointless and quite possibly a safety hazard. Maybe this topic should be raised at the AGM with a view to getting them removed unless someone can explain the positive reason why they are there. As for the business about having life guard on duty I have never heard of this on any of the other complexes I either visited or stayed at and some of them have got pools far bigger then that at DJ also none of them have fencing around the pools!

I have the Andalucian law on swimming pools laying on my desk and it's not clear for me why we would need a lifeguard. Our pool seems to be too small for it. There are however some provisions about multiple pools which could make it necessary. Regarding the fences I really don't know.
The point is however mute as we first have to obtain the pools. We have no license so they are still the developer's. We are now waiting for the inspection by the Andalucian Health department. After approval the developer can apply for the license and hand the pools over to the community. Only then can we study the actual license and possible restrictions.
