I transfer my money with Moneycorp each month and it costs £5 each time but the exchange rate is good.(they were reccomended to me by somebody else on EOS ) My Spanish bank account is CAM and i can do personal banking online so i can see what is going in and out of the account.
Hope this helps

Hi Twiggy,
We too have a CAM bank account and would love to know how to get online banking as we do in the UK. We have been on the CAM English website and as soon as we try to enter the information they require it reverts to Spanish and the vocabulary is well beyond our poor grasp. Also a box comes up to say that one needs to be a permenant resident in Spain to access internet banking with CAM. Perhaps you could let us know how you managed it?

Hello Mike and Gloria,
On a visit to Spain i popped into the bank and they gave me a user number (number 7 on the front of passport number)and a security number so now i just go to personal banking on the main screen then personal banking again at the bottom left of the next screen, then enter both numbers in the boxes that show up on the screen (the security number you have to click on the nymbers on the grid then press enter) I usually put 'cam es' in the search engine and enter the english site and so far i have had no problems.
Hope this helps
Sue

Hi everyone
Have any of you been hit with a Non Resident tax yet by your banks?
We've just been on-line and found two (yes two) charges of 17.42 Euros.
When I rang the bank the lady stated it was a charge against non residents and the next charge would be in 2009!
I will be asking my solicitor (for what use she is!) in October when I go to see her about our Spanish wills, which we have to have as the probate process in Spain is horrendous.
As for transferring money across, we use Global Currency Exchange Network. They do not charge any commission. It takes about two weeks. Your money leaves your English account by Standing Order to them, they transfer it to their Spanish bank, who then transfer it to your Spanish account. Its easy to register on-line. Their exchange rates are good.
Re Internet access, like Twiggy (Sue), we went in and they sorted that out over the counter.

Hello All,
We also had 17.42 euros each taken from our spanish account in May for the non residents tax. This was taken when our mortgage was set up and the bank informed us that all non residents have to pay this and it would automatically go from our account when due. We had no knowledge of this before we noticed the money had gone.
Regards
Sue

This is the biggest issue we have had so far. I am with caja murcia, they dont answer phones at branch level, the 24 hour service line is never manned by English speaking personnel (contrary to their promise) and if you request an English speaking advisor you are put on hold indefinatley. Once you have handed over power of atterney to your solicitor, he or she can access your account without informing you and the builder can up set direct debits. I dont think that anything untoward or dishonest is going on but its the lack of control and understanding that drives you mad. You would never conduct your finances in this way in Britain. Its our own fault for not researching the Spanish (crazy) way of doing things.

I was persistant enough with phoning the branch and eventually spoke to a guy who could speak broken English. I can also access my account on the internet. Otherwise you have to wait until you can get to Spain.

Just to let you know that we managed to arrange for internet access to our Cam Bank account whilst we were over last week. Not quite as easy as we thought it would be as the
girl in Formentera didn't seem to know what we wanted but she did give us a statement! We went to an International branch at La Siesta and it was arranged in about 5 mins.

Hi Nick and Linda
Our Iberdrola bill was 170.66 euros made up as follows:
Derechos Acceso 108.21
Derechos de enganche 8.64
Deposito de garantia 35.11
IVA 18.70
Making a total of 170.66
I assume that yours was made up in the same way (we were actually there when our bill arrived)
Hope this helps,
Gloria and Mike

Hi we are from Brisas Del Mar block. Does anyone know how we get our regular mail if we are living in the UK and will only come out to Spain occasionally.
Thanks

Hello,
We have a keyholder in Spain that sends the letters back to England or they keep hold of them for us if we are due to go out.
Hope this helps

To Daz
Their is a Halifax espania in Quadamar if you open an account there u can transfer money for free from halifax or Bank of Scotland in the uk.
You could transfer your money to Spain then set a direct debit up to pay your Mortgage at your Spannish bank.
There branch is at the far end of Qadamar if u know where the town hall is you just keep walking straight from there about a 15 mint walk from Town Hall.
U should always have a little bit extra in ure account for bills.as i have been told no money in for electricity debit they cut u off
We have an appt in block 5 as well perhaps we can all meet up some time where do you live?
