Hi
We have purchased a groundfloor apartment 2 years ago off plan. We were over in April and the flat was almost ready, still needed snagging, light fittings and cleaning. We have booked flights to come over on the 20th June and was hoping that we will be staying in the apartment, but not heard anything from our solicitor or Palacious.
Can Anyone give us some information on buying a television best electrical stores and also getting English channels Any information on anyone installing air conditioning
Thanks

Billy and Chris,
I am also in Block 2 and i purchased my tv from carrefour (not sure if i spelt that right)
There is a notice on the entrance door for satelite tv (450euros to install and 15 or 19 euros per month depending how you pay)
Palacious are going to fit my air con, Carrefour sell some with fitting cheap but an electrician i spoke to said they are not good quality and tend to leak and it is hard to get help from Carrefour if anything goes wrong as they do not speak english.
Hope this helps
Sue

Hi Billy & Chris
We are also in block 2, ground floor (apt H at the front). We were also over in April, came over to sign at the Notary. We were told then that within 2 weeks we would have our mortgage offer & will have completed. It is the beginning of June & we still haven't heard anything. Hopefully the builders will be fitting our air con but so far I haven't been able to get through to either my solicitor or agent to arrange this.
I don't know about you but I am nervous about the fact we have signed a Power of Attorney so that the solicitors can act on our behalf, but they don't answer my emails. I don't feel like I have any control.
We were hoping to come across in July & stay at our apartment but don't know what to do now.
Sandra

carrefour is definately the place to go for tvs. they are 32inch widescreen tvs for just over 500€. placious will get quotes for aircon, fitting of shower doors, extra lights, just about anything. ask for ines and she will look after everything. loads of companies doing satellite. get the free coastrider paper in the area and take your pick of the ads.

Hello Everyone
Thanks for all the replies and information, we have now been informed that our apartment was completed on the 14th May, so I don't know why we were not informed. really looking forward to our holiday now and the sorting out of the apartment.. we purchased the apartment fully furnished with all white goods, washer cooker, fridge freezer. Not sure if the light fitting s are included, or shower curtains or trays, guess we will know when we get there.
We will need to purchase everything form Pans, cuttlery, crockery, glasses, kettles toasters and microwave, as well as bedding so i am hoping that we will be able to pick up most things from Carrefour.
How will we know if the television will be compatable with british channels
Any information is much appreciated and i keep reading all the comments on Eye on Spain
Thanks
Billy and Chris

Hi guys,
My apartment in block 5 came with 5 light fittings so a further 5 are needed. I think they work out at €20 each inc fitting. Or you can pick you ceiling fans for under €30 in carrefour. Shower tray is included but door is not. Quote received for shower door €285ish inc fiting. You can get shower curtain and pole in carrefore for under €20 otherwise its about €250 for a glass door for bath. Not sure what you mean about the tv being compatable with british channels but they are compatable with the satellite systems out here that broadcast BBC and ITV.
Best of luck with the apartment. Might see you around when I come back over in a few weeks!

Just returned from Spain having completed, Block 2, 1C. Furniture package not very good, especially the sofa bed we exchanged ours straightaway and apartment needed cleaning. Solicitors at Antonio Perez totally unhelpful during completion and would not answer any of our calls. (Inez at the builders sorted everything out). We were hit with a 700 Euros bill for building contents and life insurance that we knew nothing about and were told by the bank that we had to take it out to get the mortgage, no copies of what the insurance covers so we will be asking serious questions of our agent.

The bedding that you receive with your furniture pack is one double bed spread, two single bedspreads, two pillows and one bolster pillow the rest you have to buy. We bought some at the Yorkshire linen shop in Quesada and the rest we have taken over from England. You have to buy all your own Cutlery, plates, pots, pans etc which we purchased in Eroski near San Javier but I believe there are a number of places nearby including Ikea about 20 minutes away. The main issue we found is that there are no light fttings in the hallway, the en suite and only one in the living room so you will need to buy at least 4 lights as well as any outside lights that you need. Hope this is of some help - my husband Allan is over in Spain at the moment and he says the intercom has now been installed on block 2. Don't forget to ask for your key to the pool area because the builder took a week after completion and constant badgering before we got our keys.

Hi Dave & Julie
Welcome to Mar Y Sol.
You can get most of what you need at Carrefour in Torrevieja. However, the strangest things are expensive in Spain - loo brushes for example and decent salt and pepper sets (we wanted the grinder type and ended up bring a set from home). Saucepans and the lids (tapas) tend to be sold separately. Corked based place mats are also hard to find, although we did get some at the San Miguel market (Sundays). Don't discount the markets around and about. We've bought some fantastic bargains and all of the things you need will be available there... and they are a fantastic experience. There's a huge one in Almoradi but don't do what we did - parked the car and couldn't find it. We spent about an hour lugging a whacking great bale of curtain material around. (I say 'we', but I actually I didn't carry it - Alan had that honour!).
We also found that kitchen knives were a bit pricey and ended up bringing a set from home - but make sure you pack it in your hold luggage.
When buying linen, just make sure you're buying the size to fit English size beds - Spanish beds are much shorter than ours! They also have strange pillows. I remember my mum and dad had a bolster under their second 'normal sized' pillows, but the Spanish top pillows are square, although, again in Carrefour you can get 'normal' pillows and cases.
Carrefour also have a great garden furniture section although if you expect B&Q prices you'll be disappointed. I cannot work out why, when in Spain one can live outside for most of the year, this sort of stuff is relatively expensive.
We're in Block 3 ground floor (although sadly not on a permanent basis yet). Are you planning to live in Spain or is this a holiday home?
There's a lovely couple who live in your block - Katie and Tony. They've lived in the area for sometime and and very knowledgeable and helpful.
I hope our experiences help and hope we meet one day.
Good luck. I'm very jealous that you'll be there and we'll be here!!!!!

Hi, Irene & Alan
thank you for your help, i will bring over some of the items you mentioned, i suppose it is really a matter of once we come over, we can find out where all of the shops are through chatting to people like you and Alan.
We are block 2 ground floor, we will be using our apartment as a holiday home, for family and friends, we are hoping to be able to come over as many times as possible during the year.
hope to meet up sometime
Dave & Julie
