There are a couple of cheap B&Bs on the owners direct website one is in Cuidad Quesada (45 euros per couple per night) property ref S757 and another is in Dolores near Guardamar for 20 euros per night per person property ref S4651.

We stayed at the Palacios Hotel. It's over the road from the builders' office and within walking distance of the apartments. It's a bit dearer I think, but here's the link  www.hotels.uk.com/details/aab93813/Los%20Palacios.htm

It's clean and convenient. Only problem is that breakfast is served in the bar and the locals are heavy smokers!!!!!
